[history]
WASHINGTON -- Former Vice President Al Gore plans to endorse Howard Dean today as the Democratic candidate for president, a surprise stroke that some strategists believe -- and rival candidates fear -- could lend establishment credentials to the insurgent front-runner and cement his already substantial lead in public opinion polls.

What really got to Gore is when Dean called him up and said, "I've been using this thing you invented, you know, the internet? And it really works. Hey, thanks a lot!"

Well, I see the Toons finally got their hooks into Howie. Wonder if they got a peek at those files Howie's trying to hide...

Harlem. Can't you see the Toons' fingerprints all over this? You think? I thought it was Al Gore's way of snubbing them since they are behind Clark and now he is endorsing Dean in their backyard.
But what the heck do I know :)

It would be hilarious if Dean got pounded in the Iowa primary and Gore was left twisting in the wind.
It would be a real twofer.

Gore doesn't have the nads to p.o. the Toons. Gore's such a good little sockpuppet. So what's Gore supposed to do to and/or for Howie for the Clintons?

This is all about 2008. Gore will inherit Dean's base when Howie loses and will be the principal challenger to Hillary. It will be a bloodbath.

No. Whatever Algore's support is worth, the Clintons didn't want it going to Dean. In fact, Gores endorsement is a jab at the Clinton gang. They are running this nomination farce.
Hillary Rodham Clinton did not go on those 3 'talking head' shows Sunday to give her recipe for chocolate chip cookies.

You're assuming that Gore has some testicular fortitude. Whatever has ol' Algore done to make you think that? :)

Whatever little I thought of Gore before, I think less of him now, if that is possible. The man has no conscience.
After what he dragged this country through in 2000 for his own aggrandizement, and now he stabs Lieberman in the back.
To: ThePointer
I agree completely. This is Gore thumbing his nose at the Clintons, not being controlled by them. Go Albore!!!
To: babble-on
Think about it, if Dean is elected Pres. in 2004, the entertainment value would be immense...

"We know from 2000 that in a democracy it is the popular vote that counts," said Clark press secretary Bill Buck, who was Gore's former communications director for Florida. So many things wrong with that statement, I'm not even sure where to begin. This guy's grip on reality makes Baghdad Bob sound reasonable.

This race is nothing more than a power struggle. We have the Clintons (McAuliff, Clark) vs the Kennedys (Kerry) vs the radical left (Dean, Pelosi). The Kennedys scored a big victory by securing Boston as the convention site. Right now, Ted Kennedy is calling the shots in the Senate. After the election, look for a power struggle in the dem's Senate caucus between Hillary and Ted. The Clinton strategy seems to be to let the radical left have their way for now and watch them get destroyed like McGovern and Mondale.
