I was thinking this afternoon that we need here a new PING LIST for all those who think some Eddie B.B.Van Clapton is this century's Mozart, and some other halfwit a "greatest rhythm guitarist in the universe! EVER!" Fandom without an inch of detachment or perspective. Let's call it, oh, the TIGER BEAT PING LIST!

This really seems to have gotten under your skin. It's only an opinion, and it's all in fun.

What's gotten under my skin is the utter lack of distance. Time to put away the childish things, no?

Last weekend I stumbled on some PBS program where old men and old women in the audience were singing along with Brian Hyland who, to his credit looked rather hip like Neil Young circa 1970, singing along to Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie. I cringed, felt embarassed, and heard no difference between that and some early Beetle songs I had half heard in the background at some grocery store earlier in the day.

Good they were at their time, but can we say anything besides these pedestrian and worn fan observations about the contribution of Paul vs the contribution of John, etc? Come on, for shame...
