He was the most important member of the Beatles
No he wasn't. Being a Beatles fan for 40 years and have everything they recorded it is no doubt that Paul McCartney was the most important member.

To me that is indisputable. John may have been the "real" rocker during the touring days, but once they got in the studio, it was Paul whose talents far outshone the other 3. George Martin has even said as much.

Respectfully disagree. Among Beatle fans, there are 'John people' and 'Paul people'. I'm on the John side.

Without Lennon's weird edge, Paul was nothing but bubblegum pop.
Without Paul's pop sense, Lennon was nothing but edgy and weird.

it is no doubt that Paul McCartney was the most important member. The phrase "The Whole is Greater Than the Sum of Its Parts" applies to John and Paul.
Neither alone were as good as they were together. A sweet and sour sensation if there ever was one.
