I don't know if I agree 100%....... but would say this is one of the most perceptive assessments of the Lennon-McCartney magic that produced such broadly appealing music.

And it became more obvious after they split up.

I think the tendency for what you are saying is true but I don't agree with it totally. Back when Sgt. Peppers was released the "old folks" looked at "When I'm Sixty Four" as a "heavy" song. No doubt with John's help because the song really is satirical.
