I actually like Elton John - not something I admit readily.

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me might be my fav.

I'll have to add Dire Straits to the mix.

Some crap - "Twisting by the Pool"

Some great tunes - "Romeo and Juliet" and "Telegraph Road"

Well she was just 99, with a face like Frankenstein, and the way she looked was way beyond a scare.

Now how could I dance with her mother, oooh!
When I saw her standing there?

John may have been the "real" rocker during the touring days, but once they got in the studio, it was Paul whose talents far outshone the other 3

Agreed totally. Paul was last century's Mozart.

I'm afraid you just pushed me into Rc's camp.

Paul was last century's Mozart.

Whoa...that is a strong statement.

Without Lennon's weird edge, Paul was nothing but bubblegum pop.
Without Paul's pop sense, Lennon was nothing but edgy and weird.

I think the tendency for what you are saying is true but I don't agree with it totally. Back when Sgt. Peppers was released the "old folks" looked at "When I'm Sixty Four" as a "heavy" song. No doubt with John's help because the song really is satirical.

I'm on the John side.

As you respectfully disagreed so do I. But I'm not going to argue with a Beatles fan. So be it. None of the Beatles were expendable.

Whoa...that is a strong statement.

Yes it is. But I can't prove that to you. You have to prove or dis-prove that on your own and it's your opinion as what I've stated is my opinion.

Mozart wrote simple beautiful melodies that have tested time and have come up bountiful. I believe that when time tests Paul's music it will come nearly as good. What composers/songwriters in the last century have nearly as many beautiful melodies of Paul?
