NEWSMAKER QUOTE OF THE DAY
Imus asks Newsweeks Howard Fineman if he thinks the Clintons are supporting General Wesley Clark in the Democratic Presidential election.
Not the Clintons personally. My theory is and its based on talking to people pretty close to them that they certainly wouldnt mind, lets put it that way. If things remain chaotic in the democratic party and if no one was able to lock up the majority of the delegates and somehow come April, May or June after the primaries are over the party reaches out to Hillary Rodham Clinton and says will you please help us out of this jam and she out of the goodness of her heart of course and only to serve the people of the party decides to go back on her promise to the people of New York, accepts the draft of the convention. Now is that likely to happen? No. But a very close advisor of theirs sketched out that scenario to me and I think if you watched Hillary on Meet The Press yesterday in her girlish laughter at Tim Russerts repeated questions about her intentions I dont think she would mind that. I think that would be just fine as far as they are concerned, in the meantime Im sort of cynical enough to think they want to make as much a hash of this as possible to make sure that President Bush gets reelected and to make sure the road is clear for Hillary in 2008. Thats my theory.
I've simply been figuring she sees the field as more favorable to her after President Bush has served his two terms. So, your comment falls in line with that.
I think not.
Dean becoming the dem nominee by gaining the primary votes outright ends the "hash" scenario.
Hillary Rodham's 1974 Watergate "Procedures were Ethically Flawed"
Excerpt:
IN December 1974, as general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, I made a personal evaluation of Hillary Rodham (now Mrs. Clinton), a member of the staff we had gathered for our impeachment inquiry on President Richard Nixon. I decided that I could not recommend her for any future position of public or private trust.
Did Al Gore get control of the DNC? The Clintons cut him dead, froze him out, and made him think about changing his name. What makes you think that Hillary! and Billyjeff aren't preparing at this very minute to salt the DNC and even the Dean Campaign with people who will throw the match -- and then take over the wreckage after Dean loses.
The DNC, and most of the money people in the Dem Party will continue to belong to the Clintons until they're both dead and gone, or until Clinton (her) has run for President and gotten buried, politically.

What a perceptive observation. And this was before anyone had heard of Monica Lewinsky. Give that man a cigar!
