Fineman: [Clintons] . . . want to make as much a hash of this as possible . . .

The Daily Imus

NEWSMAKER QUOTE OF THE DAY

Imus asks Newsweek’s Howard Fineman if he thinks the Clintons are supporting General Wesley Clark in the Democratic Presidential election.

“Not the Clinton’s personally. My theory is and it’s based on talking to people pretty close to them that they certainly wouldn’t mind, let’s put it that way. If things remain chaotic in the democratic party and if no one was able to lock up the majority of the delegates and somehow come April, May or June after the primaries are over the party reaches out to Hillary Rodham Clinton and says will you please help us out of this jam and she out of the goodness of her heart of course and only to serve the people of the party decides to go back on her promise to the people of New York, accepts the draft of the convention. Now is that likely to happen? No. But a very close advisor of theirs sketched out that scenario to me and I think if you watched Hillary on Meet The Press yesterday in her girlish laughter at Tim Russert’s repeated questions about her intentions I don’t think she would mind that. I think that would be just fine as far as they are concerned, in the meantime I’m sort of cynical enough to think they want to make as much a hash of this as possible to make sure that President Bush gets reelected and to make sure the road is clear for Hillary in 2008. That’s my theory.”

the goodness of her heart

Is that an "oxymoron" or a "contradiction in terms"?
;-)

NBC forces all of their media outlets to endure multiple Fineman appearances a week, whether each show wants him on or not. It's nauseating.

Chris Matthews was on the Imus program also. At least he and Fineman are getting it figured out.

Yes, and don't think Howard Fineman of Newsweak didn't clear this statement carefully with hillary before making it.

Hillary's most trusted and loyal supporters in the media run the New York Daily News and Newsweak. Most of the rest of the media are on board too, but not quite so slavishly.

"There's no doubting that the nation is about to be led by its first sensitive male chief executive. He's the first President to have attended both Lamaze classes and family therapy (as part of his brother's drug rehabilitation.) He can speak in the rhythms and rhetoric of pop psychology and self-actualization. He can search for the inner self while seeking connectedness with the greater whole." -- January 25, 1993 Newsweek.

And how, exactly, was this a good thing, Howard?

What did it have to do with, say, Osama bin Laden?

Or, for that matter, Waco?

The worst is watching No-Balls Matthews tongue Howie's Balls "Your the Greatest Howard" and seeing Howdie Doodie give that queer smirk of his.

"Girlish laughter" from a "manly girl." (As opposed to "girlie man"...)

Heck, we all make mistakes. I remember in '92 when I was higher than a kite over Ross. Stayed that way until he went a little kookoo. :)

Maybe Fineman and others have grown from their errors in judgment too.

Unfortunately, they aren't satisfied with just that, they think that while we don't quite deserve them, OUR lives
will be the better for it.

"her girlish laughter "

I think that is a misprint, originally it was "her harpy cackle".

Truthfully, a woman in her 50's running for president should not be attempting "girlish laughter", it irritates the pig and dissappoints the viewers.

In case you're wondering, I don't really support Perot for President - I'm just doing a parody of Willie Green's "Go Pat Go!!!" Tagline.
