Al Gore has been tapping into that hatred energy for over a year, starting with that first MoveOn.org speech of his. This endorsement should come as no surprise to anyone who's ever been paying attention to Gore's machinations and views for over a year, even the media.

I actually had been wanting to ask that question for a while because I'm really interested in how the left justifies their "stolen election" idea. But there is no thought process, just repeating a rant. They really, honestly don't have a clue.

Bush stole the election = an array of things
1. street barricades on election day
2. minorities bullied away from the polling booth
3. fighting the recounts which were of course the only way since the election was a "tie"
4. Buchanan's mistake votes should have been counted for Gore.
5. Supreme Court could have allowed the last recounts in progress, or at least given them one more chance.

There is no reason for them to lend credence to the after-the-fact recounts. And wasn't there one configuration that favored Gore?

Gore saw that a line had formed, cut to the front and pretended he's a leader. Here he's backing the Democrat at the front of the line, even though Dean is in many ways the exact opposite of Gore. Dean is a political outsider and radical liberal, a left-wing revival preacher whose platform is a lot closer to George McGovern's than Bill Clinton's. One wonders what is behind Gore's endorsement, and you can bet it wasn't the result of deep reflection divorced of all selfish concerns. Gore is thinking how he can become President someday, and if the Democrats defeat Bush in 2008 Gore would not be able to run until 2012, when he'd be 64 years old and as relevant to the political world as Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis are today. So Gore needs for Bush to win reelection next year so that he can run for the open seat in 2008. I would guess that his endorsement of Dean has three objectives: (i) keep his name in the limelight, (ii) add his endorsement of Dean to his résumé to help preserve his populist image for the 2008 primaries, and (iii) help push Dean over the cliff.

It seems the media's not surprised at all. I subscribe to a bunch of breaking news alert services from various outlets, and I've already gotten five alerts about Rep. Janklow being found guilty. I only got two about Algore.

Today was the first time in years that I've seen anyone on CNN so overjoyed over "non-news" event like Algore endorsing Dean. Judy Woodruff called in to Wolf Blitzer's show, she was out of breath and excited over the news. It was almost as if they were stroking their liberalism in ecstasy again since Bill Clinton wagged his finger at a nation. For me, it was barf bag time.

The only real question is why Gore dropped out in the first place. As I recall he was having fund raising sessions regularly and had only recently returned from China when he withdrew.
