And Bill chewed out Al on the day of the 2001 inauguration for not using him more in the campaign..And that is where I think the "hatred" between the Al and Bill started.

That's part of why I was wondering if Gore would go on the ticket again.
Goldwater had trouble finding a running mate. So did McGovern. (By the way, did you know Tom Eagleton was pretty solidly anti-abortion?)

Here's a question for the political pros among us: When Dizzy Dean loses the election, will he still be considered the de facto party leader? And for you bookmakers, what would the odds be of a severe attack of Arkancide?

Let's think it over. Who were the main candidates when this started?
Joe Lie, John F'in Kerry, Gephardt, Breck Girl, Sharpton, Bob Graham, and Howard Dean.
So what happened?
Dean hooks up with Moveon. Who were they? Why, they were the group that formed to mobilize in defense of...Bill Clinton. Dean also went to meet with Hillary early on.
Mosley-Braun joined the campaign, to ensure Sharpton couldn't monopolize the black vote. She weakened whatever slim chance he had. Sharpton was taken care of.
What happened to Kerry? He had some former Gore staffers near the top of his campaign. The campaign floundered, and then they jumped ship. Kerry was taken care of.
What happened to Gephardt? Labor unions were supposed to be his bread-and-butter. But a few of the big ones, who were cozy with the Clintons, surprisingly moved to endorse Dean. Gephardt was taken care of.
How about Edwards? What was his best chance? Southern appeal. How about Graham? What was his best chance? Foreign policy. Suddenly, Wesley Clark jumps into the race. Edwards now has to compete with Clark in the South, and Graham realizes he won't be the main defense candidate for the Democrats. Edwards and Graham are taken care of.
And Joe Lieberman had his own ticket mate, Al Gore, endorse Dean.
Every opponent to Dean has been neutered by someone with ties to the Clintons.
Not once has Bill or Hillary said anything even remotely critical of Dean.
Looks like it might be one, big, happy family instead of the dysfunctional one which has been the conventional wisdom. And it is looking more and more like the one thing the Democrats wanted to avoid, namely a drawn out, bruising and competitive primary, will be completely avoided.

We have all become very cynical regarding anything involving the Clinton's....after watching them for 12 years now, I can't help believe that they are involved in algore's decision today....nothing they do surprises me anymore...just when you think they can't sink any lower, they do...that's how I look at them...until someone proves to me that algore did this to spite the Clinton's, I'll continue to believe he was put up to it by the Clinton's.
just my opinion

Yes, I know he couldn't, but I was just using some "theory" the whining liberals in the media were all crying about over the failed Gore campaign for months after the election was over.

" When Dizzy Dean loses the election, will he still be considered the de facto party leader?"
Don't know, but I don't think algore led much after he lost the election in 2000.

I just waded through the crap at DU to see the reaction to the Gore endorsement, and for the most part, they all seem to think that they just won the lottery. What's up with that?
They're not called DUmmies for nothing. Most of those guys have a hard time with reality let alone inferring logical motives.
To: hapc
Ive read that Clark has already ruled out being on a ticket with Dean.

The only thing left (pun intended) is for Dean to put Hillary on the ticket as VP. If he does, I'm taking out a 8 year term life insurance policy on Dean for $1 Million.

If Joe loses, and he will, he'll just go right back to the Senate.

Goldwater didn't really fade. Goldwater '64 led to the Reagan Revolution. What I meant was that from the point-of-view of Gore, the fact that Dean would have started a major political movement does not necessarily marginalize him (Gore). Gore could be the Reagan that capitalizes on the revolution started by Goldwater (Dean).
But I am perfectly willing to admit that I am just spittin' cheese.

Jim Cramer, the self-described DemocRAT half of Kudlow and Cramer was pi$$ed about the Gore endorsement. He told Larry Kudlow that if Dean is the DemocRAT nominee, Bush would win 50 states.
Gotta love it.

Excellent analysis.

Cramer is far better on analysis than ideology.
