Ramallah eateries stop sale of 'American food' [Palestinian Authority boycotts American products]
Jerusalem Post ^ | Dec. 8, 2003 | KHALED ABU TOAMEH

In a surprise move, the owners of all American-style restaurants in the Ramallah area announced on Sunday that they were closing down. The owners did not give an explanation for the move, but locals said it was part of a Palestinian Authority campaign to boycott American products.

"People here are angry with the US because of its crimes in Iraq and its continued support for Israel," said a worker at one of the popular eateries.

The owner of one of the fast-food restaurants said: "All I can say is that we don't want to sell American food in Ramallah. This is a decision that was taken by all owners in the Ramallah area. Of course there is a political message here."

The owners published an advertisement in Al-Quds announcing their decision to close. The statement read: "We the owners of American restaurants in the Ramallah district announce our desire to liquidate our businesses and sell all the equipment used to prepare American meals."

The American restaurants in Ramallah include the Kentucky-style Broasted Chicken, Checkers, a local equivalent to McDonald's, Mickey Mouse Submarine, which offers an array of roast beef, cheese, grilled chicken, turkey, and burgers between buns, and Subway, the American sandwich chain.

Good, I hope they go on a Permanent Fasting. They're nothing but a bunch of irresponsible, ungrateful Terrorists that need a bullet anyway.

This will probably hurt some Palestinians in the US who export food to them. Otherwise who will notice?

"Wall Street running dogs made me lie about the fat content in Big Macs.", the spokesman added.

Businessmen don't just up and shut down. Sounds like someone's worried about a bomb up their a$$.

I just sent a copy of this article to Rep Jim Gibbons and asked him to put together a bill that would stop the funding of the Palestinians with our tax payer dollars. I hope that he will listen and act. You all should do the same.

I understand that a good fat juicy locust goes great with a fried camel pie.
