Hey. Not bad news for a Monday!

The internet cannot be controlled. Not possible.
Oh, sure, regulations could be written. But nobody will ever "control" it.

True. The UN wants to set protocols and possibly charge access fees similar to Sen. Sarbanes' fiasco of a fed wire tax. Sen. Sarbanes was made to take a semester of Reality 101. The UN was recently forced to audit the same course.
The concept of a 'Black Net' could become a reality, if Kofi Annan ever got his thieving hands on the World Wide Web.

Yeh. They've been trying to put that cat back in the bag ever since the Internet became public. They can't. The internet is bigger than any single government entity. Unless governments pull the plug on international connections, they will not control the Internet. [snicker]

"This has been a victory for the pro-business model," No, it has been a victory for the pro-freedom model. Business is just one part of that. Hey, U.N. commie states: Keep your hands off my internet!!!

That was Jimmy Carter. Noreiga had to play against the varsity in 1989 and didn't fare quite as well.

I never discount the creative mal-intentions of those that vote democrat and harbor the leftist notions to get their hands on more monies from others.
To these ilk......nothing is impossible to conceive.....
Today, the internet.....tomorrow?
Be always vigilant.

developing countries have been pushing for a greater role in managing and setting policy for the Internet. How about working on running water and flush toilets before getting your knickers in a knot over the Internet.

How about working on running water and flush toilets before getting your knickers in a knot over the Internet. LOL. Did you know that Bob Johnson from BET wants to wire the entire African continent for BET TV? His good friend Bill gave him the rights to it, I believe.
What good will it do to have cable with no TV or electiricty?

This is not about tax, this is about control.
"Carlos Achiary, national director of Information Technology Argentina, said many governments are frustrated because the Internet is having a tremendous effect in their countries"
As we prove every day on FR, the free exchange of ideas promotes liberty. The biggest threat to China's oppression is not our military, or our businesses, but that daily the Chinese people know (and if careful, can see) that there exists a people on the Earth who don't ask for permission from the State before they worship; don't ask for permission before they have children; don't ask for permission, but instead tell their Government what >it< may or may not do.
Every day that information flows freely is a day the world's population grows closer to liberty. Every constraint put on that information brings us closer to the day the Declaration of Independence is removed and replaced with the single word: crimethink.

I figure the UN will eventually monopolize information. It's a depressing thought. I consider their initial failures a welcome reprieve.
We need to develop a rollback policy. We need to stop funding the UN and stop participating as a member. They are a collectivist Borg that we don't need to be assimilated into.
