Some `undercover' spy!

They say opposites attract, but former diplomat Joseph Wilson and his wife, CIA operative Valerie Plame, are the exception to that rule. These two phonies make the perfect couple.

Remember Wilson, he of the trip to Niger to probe the Iraqi purchase of yellowcake uranium fame? Lately, he's served the Democrats' cause as chief critic of President Bush's foreign policy. That is, when he's not busy officially endorsing the candidacy of Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and defending the honor of his wife, who was ``outed,'' Wilson smeared, by White House operative Karl Rove, a charge he's since backed away from.

Anyway, Wilson and Plame were in high dungeon about Plame's identity being revealed to reporters, including columnist Robert Novak, and indeed the charge is the subject of a Justice Department investigation.

Wilson has relished being in the limelight - all the while insisting his covert operative wife whom he refers to as ``Jane Bond'' wouldn't be photographed or interviewed. Then Vanity Fair came knocking.

There's Plame, in a two-page photo spread, head wrapped in a scarf with sunglasses on, seated in a fancy sports car next to Wilson and described in the article as ``a slim 40-year-old with white-blond hair and a big, bright smile.''

That tells us all we need to know about the severity of the damage done to Plame's undercover career by the ``leak'' of her identity. It's Plame. Valerie Plame. And she's no Jane Bond.

Are you suggesting that someone can have a two page spread in Vanity Fair and still be undercover? ;-)

I hope your comments weren't directed to me but to the so called spy in question.

I think it's ridiculous that she would agree to be in Vanity Fair. That's why I put the word "sarcasm" after my post number 1

"I hope your comments weren't directed to me but to the so called spy in question. "

Indeed! I was just adding my own sarcasm. ;)

High dungeon? Wonder whether that's a case of an overactive spell checker (computer or human)... It's unlikely that you'd hit the 'n' key when aiming for the 'd' key...

Isn't "Who's Who" really: I am somebody? The ultimate vanity.

I think if anyone pays the fee, they'll get listed in who's who.
