You're welcome Tonk.
I hope the lessons of history
are well-learned and between
12-7 and 9-11 and all the
bombings in between; we won't
be "surprised" again with another
terrorist attack.
Well one can only hope and pray.
Prayers for the USA and prayers
for all our soldiers and LEO's here
and abroad.

Thank you for the testimonial from the Chaplain.
I had an experience on 6 December 1991 with Pearl Harbor Survivors I would like to relate. It was the 50th anniversary of the attack and I was in charge of recruiting in Southern Maine and Eastern New Hampshire. My commander was from Hawaii and he wanted to host the Survivors to honor them. Between 50 and 75 showed up. Many had never met, many were lifetime friends and brothers as only military people can be. To a man they were the most humble and thankful men I've ever known. They all were wonderful and spent a lot of time talking to us about their experiences. It was a memorable day in my Army career.
My Father had a friend that I knew received a battlefield commission in the Pacific. What I didn't know until I saw the license plate on his wifes car was that he was at Pearl Harbor also. He is a real character and has brightened the lives of everyone he has met. He has problems getting around now, but he still has a huge garden he works by himself and he gives most of the vegetables away. He does the same with his beef cattle. These are not just Survivors, they are Victors. They won in the game of life.

Amen Brother. They set the bar high for us. I think we raised it another notch or two and these kids wearing our uniforms now are knocking the bar down and putting up their own that may never be touched.

My brother-in-law was on the USS New Orleans during the
Pearl Harbor attack.
This Ship later was hit by a torpedo and had it's bow
blown off. They saved the ship by rigging up repairs
and backing it to an atoll where where better repairs
were made. Then this ship was returned to San Diego to
have a new bow installed.
He was the transferred to a new DE USS Laws where he
was until the war was won.

I think the human spirit will ALWAYS reach the bar, no matter the new height(s)

Tonk I think I'll try to sleep again. Good night Brother. No success so far. I think Fawnn put some kind of whammy on me or something. Good night everyone. Sleep well.
Kathy I hope you had a safe trip and slept all the way home. Your children were out of control today, especially those that wear blue.
Good night troops. Stay safe. Take care of your brothers and sisters. Return home to us soon. We love you all.

Thanks I just mentioned my brother-in-law because he
was at Pearl Harbor.
My father was in the army in WWI, He fought in France.
He had 1 son and 2 sons-in-law in WWII.
He tried to join up in WWII, but they turned him down.
My oldest brother was a driver for General Patton's
staff.
One brother-in-law survived the Bataan Death march.
My middle brother was in the Navy during the Korean war.
