Schwarzenegger Aims to Bypass Lawmakers

SACRAMENTO — Rebuffed by state lawmakers in an early test of his administration, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will now try to bypass the Legislature whenever feasible and tap into the public support he commands by bringing his agenda directly to the ballot, administration aides said Saturday.

The governor, himself, remained publicly silent about Friday night's defeat of the state spending limit and $15 billion bond measure he had proposed. His aides, however, cast the votes as confirmation that the Legislature is ignoring the message of the Oct. 7th recall vote and the mandate they contend Schwarzenegger won.

That campaign would take to the ballot possibly more than a half-dozen measures sponsored by Schwarzenegger and various groups aligned with him. Included would be a constitutional amendment for a balanced budget and spending cap, and a package of changes in the state's workers compensation system, according to a Schwarzenegger adviser.

Doubtlessly so, but ,then, they're riled up about almost anything that fails to pass the litmus test of their juvenile purity. In some ways, I have more sympathy for the Lefties, because they at least are funny (when not in power) The Principled turn on their own(witness Rush bashing threads , not to mention the ongoing attacks on the President) .

The Principled turn on their own

I've noticed that the farthest from the center on each side of the spectrum seem to despise anyone appearing "moderate" more than those of the opposite side. It's very puzzling... In my mind, those closest to us in philosophy are our natural political allies... instead they are treated as enemies.

Well, you'd think that.Unfortunately, the true believers tend to hold their own to an impossibly high standard that they can never themselves match, but they feel good procliming that philosophy.

Think back to 1992, when the Principled went with Ross Perot.It mattered not to them that Perot had Clinton's hand up his posterior , orchastrating his campaign of spoilage. No, by GAWD! Bush41 lied to them! Bush41 was not pro life,pro gun, pro tin foil hat enough for them. We got the panderbear and her Heinous .No matter, the Principled felt like the pain would be good for us to have rejected their obvious righteousness. In a perverse way, they were right, though they helped re elect Clinton in 96 , by, of course, standing on principle, or was it on their heads? Not to worry, they felt bloody fabulous about their own wonderfulness.

Ah yes,Principle oneself right into the abyss.
