After Arnold Schwarzenegger's election victory, John Cleese looks like being the next screen star to run for political office in the United States. Fellow Monty Python actor Michael Palin tells Spy that Cleese is thinking of running for mayor of Santa Barbara, California, where he now lives.
"John's very involved with the local community there," said Palin at this week's Hatchards' Christmas party. "He says that he might be running for mayor, and I think he'd do a great job."
When he lived in Britain, Cleese was a prominent supporter of the Liberal Democrats, and appeared in several of their party political broadcasts. Of his chum's acting career, Palin adds: "John has decided he doesn't really want to do comedy any more. He has a very active and inquiring mind, so he's doing these guest appearances in Harry Potter to fund the rest of his life."

Yes, make no mistake folks. The Liberal Democrats here in the UK are all spineless liberal bast@rds. (just like yours!) Yes....he supports the party of super-high taxes yet he moves to the US to escape them...under the guise of "Britain has lost its sense of humor".
Spineless is the correct adjective for him.
Though MP and the Holy Grail will always be one of my favorite movies.

Here at Luton, it's a three-corned fight between Alan Jones, Sensible Party, in the middle; Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel, Silly Party; and Kevin Phillips-Bong, the Slightly Silly candidate.
Alan Jones!...
On the left, Sensible Party.
9,112...Kevin Phillips-Bong!...
On the right, Slightly Silly.
Naught...Tarquin Fin-tim-lin-bin-whin-bim-lim-bus-stop-F'tang-F'tang-Olé-Biscuitbarrel!...
Silly.
12,441.
And so the Silly Party has taken Luton.
A gain for the Silly Party at Luton. The first gain of the election, Norman?
Well, this is a highly significant result. Luton, normally a very sensible constituency with a high proportion of people who aren't a bit silly, have gone completely ga-ga!

Just as long as one of his first actions is not to establish a Ministry of Silly Walks...

Yes, Desmond was killed in a tragic car accident in the U.K. in 2000.

Hello from Harpenden. This is a key seat because in addition to the official Silly candidate there is an independent Very Silly candidate [in large cube of polystyrene with only his legs sticking out], who may split the silly vote.
Mr Elsie Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
Silly.
...26,317. James Walker...
Sensible
...26,318
That was close.
Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Umbrella Stand Jasper Wednesday [pops mouth twice] Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable [sound effect of horse whinnying] Arthur Norman Michael [blows sqeaker] Featherstone Smith [blows whistle] Northgot Edward Harris [fires pistol, goes 'whoop'] Mason [chuff-chuff-chuff] Frampton Jones Fruitbat Gilbert (sings) "We'll keep a welcome in the..." [fires gun thrice, stops singing] Williams If I Could Walk That Way Jenkin [sqeaker] Tiger-draws Pratt Thompson [sings] "Raindrops keep falling on my head" Darcy Carter [horn] Pussycat "Don't sleep in the subway" Barton Mannering [hoot, 'whoop'] Smith...
Very Silly
...two.
Well there you have it, a Sensible gain at Harpenden with the Silly vote being split.

I wish he would run in Santa Barbara. He really has been busy in the local scene, charitable stuff, etc. He's probably not super-lib; frankly, I doubt a conservative of the type that we all would prefer could win in Santa Barbara, anyway.

Is he eligible to run?

These entertainers are making a mockery of Arnold's candidacy. Arnold separated himself from the pack because of his unique intelligence, business and investing experience, long political involvement, and leadership on Propositon 49- a statewide ballot measure that combatted juvenille crime and offered afterschool opportunities. Because he won, every nimrod in Hollywood and elsewhere thinks they have a shot. They don't.

Cleese at debate:
"Sorry, I'm not allowed to argue unless you've paid."
Actually, before MPFC, Cleese was trained as a lawyer.

Cleese at debate: Moderator: "Mr. Cleese, do you have a question for your opponent?"
Cleese: "Why, yes; I have two, in fact: what is the terminal velocity of a swallow, and what's your favorite colour?"
