Really? Man, you sure read better than me. Nowhere in his writings do I see that said or implied. I guess it's back to school for me.

They weren't actively and widely persecuted by Muslims until fairly recently. At the turn of the 20th Century there were over 250,000 Jews in Baghdad. Due to persecution and the formation of Israel in 1948, there are fewer than 30 today.

I give em credit for this article, took some stones.
But it won't get no play where its needed, and even if it did, some mullah would just take a contract out on em.
So it may as well not have been written.
As for the golden age of islam, well, thats just hooey.
Arabs conquered entire peoples and stole ideas, language, math, letters, inventions, and just about everything else they claim credit for. The koran is just selected texts from the torah and bible mixed in with good ol tribal customs from the pagans living on the arabic peninsula. Islam spells L-I-E.

What a crushing conclusion for a Muslim writer to arrive at -- that God punishes the persecutors of Jews, and that Muslims will be denied success in the world until they recognize this and act accordingly. Wouldn't this undermine some of the most central features of his Islamic belief? Mohammed says to fight the infidels (at least those who do not convert), but God punishes those who would fight the infidels. How does he deal with the dissonance of that?
To: veronica
It is clear to me that the Jews are proving to be God's chosen people. Just like the Bible promised. Should any believer really be surprised at this article's conclusion?

Total gender apartheid, treating women worse than animals, tyranny, oppression, intolerance of any kind of free expression and on and on the author should be more tolerant of other cultures

"I am ashamed to be a Muslim ... again. .... In the Christians' Bible, there's a part about God cursing those who curse the Jewish people and the entire world history seems to confirm it. "
Maybe it's time to take a harder look at the rest of the Christian Bible. Specifically Isaiah 53 and the Gospel of John.
The Koran, from what I understand, claims to accept the prior scriptures as truth. But then claims they were corrupted. That is an internal contradiction. What's more, if I understand it right, it even challenges Jews and Christians to examine their own scriptures to validate the Koran. Which if they do, they must reject the Koran.
There are people who make me ashamed that they are Christian. But they are the exception, not the rule. I'm proud to be a Christian. The only thing that ever makes me ashamed to be a Christian is when I don't live up to the standard that Christianity calls for. Then I'm ashamed to be a blight on the name of Christianity.

A "Come to Jesus" lecture is the equivalent of the phrase being "taken to the woodshed." I just thought "Come to Jesus" was more apropos.

Thanks for the ping! This is a great article. I only wish those Muslim leaders would read it and think about the History mentioned. Facts speak louder than words, but we know they won't listen or heed the warnings.

"the Muslim world was tolerant of the Jews and provided a haven for hundreds of thousands fleeing the savage persecution in Europe"
You mean this tolerance that happened during the time the Muslims murdered millions of Hindus in India?
To: veronica
Excellent post.
I would like to offer a personal opinion on one point:
"God cursing those who curse the Jewish people"
It seems the author attributes success to the tolerance of Jews. I think it is somewhat sideways to that. Persecution is the sign of a failed state not ruled by its people. The Jews are just the handy scapegoats. Their demise in each case is symptomatic of the failed state, just like the failure itself.
While I'm proud of Jewish success, it is primarily a result of the health of societies, not primarily a cause of healthy societies. There just aren't enough of us around!

You are correct about the Sharia law; unbelievable! Apparently, female genital mutilation is considered quite a Godly thing to do. The following are some of the Komeini quotes; be warned that this is pretty sick stuff.

+Some sayings of Ayatollah Khomeini
From "The Life of Muhammad"
After Khadijah died, Muhammad dreamed that he was to marry A'isha, the daughter of Abu Bakr. She was six and he was fifty. But firstly he married the widow Sawdah who was very motherly towards his children and, a few months later, to his child bride A'isha. She continued to play with her dolls for several years until, at the age of nine, her marriage was consummated.
Rights of the Child (contd)
10 Aug. '00 Reformers in the Iranian parliament are seeking to raise the age of marriage for girls from 9 to 14 and boys from 15 to16. Currently the girl's age is determined by the A'isha/Muhammad marriage. She was six and he was fifty - he did "wait" until she was nine to consummate the marriage
Penetration of young girls can seriously damage their reproductive organs, let alone any psychological harm it can do. The high maternal mortality rate can be directly attributed to this practice. Also children need time to have a childhood and also study.

Some Sayings of Ayatollah Khomeini
Ayatollah Khomeini:
A man can have sexual pleasure from a child as young as a baby. However he should not penetrate, sodomising the child is OK. If the man penetrates and damages the child then he should be responsible for her subsistence all her
life. This girl, however does not count as one of his four permanent wives.
The man will not be eligible to marry the girls sister.
From Khomeini's book, "Tahrirolvasyleh", fourth volume, Darol Elm, Gom,
Iran, 1990
It is better for a girl to marry in such a time when she would begin menstruation at her husband's house rather than her father's home. Any father marrying his daughter so young will have a permanent place in heaven.
From Khomeini's book, "Tahrirolvasyleh", fourth volume, Darol Elm, Gom,
Iran, 1990 [Mohammad (founder of Islam) The Pedophile]
A man can have sex with animals such as sheep, cows, camels and so on. However he should kill the animal after he has his orgasm. He should not sell the meat to the people in his own village, however selling the meat to
the next door village should be fine.
From Khomeini's book, "Tahrirolvasyleh", fourth volume, Darol Elm, Gom,
Iran, 1990
"If one commits the act of sodomy with a cow, a ewe, or a camel, their urine and their excrement become impure, and even their milk may no longer be consumed. The animal must then be killed and as quickly as possible and burned."

The storm scares me, and it is because the infidels must die.
Muslims are passive until they can get into a position to kill the infidels.

"Persecution is the sign of a failed state not ruled by its people. The Jews are just the handy scapegoats."I think it's a two way street. You are correct that a state that persecutes the Jews has already slid morally and is approaching a "failed" status.
However, blessing the Jews honors the promise that God made Abraham, and invokes God's blessing in turn. Thus the state that pays attention to God's promises will bless the Jews and in turn be blessed. The state that doesn't pay attention to God's promises will not bless the Jews, will not receive God's blessing and will have a lot more problems than a lack of Jews.
I don't think the success of a state has anything to do with the number of Jews in the state. The success has to do with how the state honors God and part of that is blessing the Jews.
I also think that God continues to bless Jews often making them very successful in business whether they deserve it or not, because of His promise to Abraham.
