Authorities searching for narcotics inside a central Phoenix motel room found developmentally disabled 18-year-old twin sisters who were severely malnourished and communicating only through barks and grunts.

The women were found Tuesday afternoon during a drug bust at the Sun Villa motel near 25th and Van Buren streets. Both were in the back of the room, where investigators also found urine and feces on the floor, said Sgt. Randy Force, a Phoenix police spokesman.

The women were found Tuesday afternoon during a drug bust...
where investigators also found urine and feces on the floor,
possible sexual abuse because of statements from witnesses who said men stopped by the room asking for the women.

"Investigators are still trying to determine if there's any neglect issues with these girls," he said.

Barney Fife could solve this one, I think...

The mother is "not considered a criminal suspect."

Why isn't she considered a criminal suspect is the question I want to see answered.

You beat me to it. Doesn't sound like the authorities are on the ball in this case.

I don't want to even think about what these girls have had to go through.

Because a mother would never do anything to harm her kids, don't you know that? It's always the father/boyfriend/etc. at fault. Don't you know the liberal feminazi mantra?

I realize that, but to blatantly believe that mom (or kids) can do no wrong is truely stupid. Case in point, Susan Smith (she drove her car into water and drowned her kids) and the lady that drown her kids in the tub (she even chased one around the house). I realize that some do it because of "baby blues", etc., but how many do it knowinginly? At least we are starting to realize that kids can do wrong.
