They alter the text, too. Why, just the other day I was posting that I thought that the entire government should be executed and the total means of production seized by the state, to be run by workers' committees organized into Soviets in every major manufacturing industry, children mobilized into Hillary Youth battalions, and all of those little grocery store cards that now transfer information to the CIA turned into ration cards, to be vetted monthly by neighborhood Democratic Party commissars, and the Lead Moderator kindly condensed the whole thing for me to "Happy Thanksgiving, FReepers!" Honestly, it's what I was really trying to say...

The (unofficial) correct way is to post the original headline with your version or comments in parens. Example:
Officials concerned with economic growth (Is CNN trying to stop economic growth?)
If this was already posted, please forgive and check my tag line.

I believe you need a question (?) mark at the end of your title. :)

I'm sorry if this has already been covered, but I just got out of ther shower. Is this the thread raising a seriesly hugh question about FR editing headlines when it says it does not?
If so, I would like to inform you that President Bush carried around a turkey on Thanksgiving which was not eaten by the troops. Some people say he was trying to steal it.
To: kerouacbal
Maybe it's because some folks don't punctuate their thread titles correctly.

I do not know who the Posting Police are, it is an old maxim, give a person a little authority and they will stretch it a mile.

People generally search for an article before posting it
Here's a question: Since the recent software revamp, there is no longer a "post article" link on the search results pages. If I've done a few secondary searches, I have to click back through several pages before returning to a page with a "post article" link. Can we get the link put back on the search results pages?

"guild lines" and "long with this stay" and you are asking
about the editing someone else does?

BTTT. This is a must. It is so annoying this new way. I always searched for an article and posted it if not found. But with the new software, I can't click post, but must go to an article of some sort first.

I think this is because the search program now searches all forums. The results page is shared by all forums. You can get to the forum of choice to post your thread in one click by clicking on the forum list in the right hand sidebar.

Ah, I did not know that. That's a good improvement. Thanks. Is that true of keywords also? Are keywords still dropped when threads are moved to different forums, or are they retained?

You cannot change a headline or the content of the article. That's like, you know, painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa!!
It's a good rule. ;-)
