Video Captures Canine Seeking Shelter Inside Family Car

Members of the Leroy family in Washington thought they were the target of a prankster when they kept finding a stray dog inside their parked car.

Intent on catching the culprit, they set up a video camera to record the vehicle.

However, they were surprised at what they caught on film.

The video captured the dog as she opened the car door on her own and climbed inside.

The family is now circulating posters of the dog and has contacted the local Humane Society.

So far, no one has claimed the canine.

It's the same look my Lab gives me when I catch her nibbling on the cats' food or rummaging through the kitchen garbage.

Im sure he's just checking to make sure your giving equal portions to the cat and that your not throwing anything of value out lol

That is really amazing. I thought my dog was smart but apparently she's only in kindergarten compared to this PhD!

I am a good, patriotic dog! Would I steal the kitties' food? Would I tear up hamburger wrappers all over the kitchen floor?

. . . . . . . well, yeah, I would. . . .

Looks like a real nice dog. If I weren't so far away I'd adopt her. She's got the same facial expressions as my Lab does (when I catch my Lab lying on the couch she looks just like that).

I hope they find her owner or a good home for her soon.

I'll adopt a dog with that sort of talent. There aren't many that can open car doors...

>>There's a Far Side cartoon in this somewhere. Maybe the dog is a fan of Gary Larson.<<

ROFL, reminds me of the one where the dog is in the car about to drive away and is talking to his doggy friend outside of the car and says "When I come back, I going to be smarter than you, they're taking me to the vet to get tutored!"

Hilarious pic.

FWIW, the car appears to be a '92-'97 Ford Taurus.

Well, shoot, just let the dog have it then.

She won't get far.

My boss used to have a '96 Taurus that was a D-O-G. We used to have to rescue him from various places where it was Found On Road Dead. He threatened to set it on fire and let it roll into the river, but he eventually traded it in on a Volvo.

On the other hand, I have a Ford Explorer with 110k+ miles on it that has given good service. It quit on me once because of a clogged fuel filter but other than that it has run fine. Other than routine maintenance I've had to replace the timing belt and the power steering motor, that's all. Although at the moment it looks like there's something wrong with the heater . . . sigh.

She looks like she's managed to keep herself in dog biscuits and dinner - not undernourished at all. And her coat looks good too.

The smart ones do all right.

Guess the car owners never thought of locking the car doors.

They tried that.

The dog's got a 'slim jim'.
