Sandra Jolly said her 6-year-old son's Christmas was spoiled when his teacher told the first-grade class Monday that "Santa Claus is make-believe."

"He had this sad, lost puppy dog look on his face. This unhappy, empty look," Jolly said. "He said his teacher informed the entire class that Santa is make-believe."

Okay, kiddo, listen up and listen well....

You haven't a clue about parenting, you have even less of a grasp on how to debate or engage in civil discourse, not every sin causes pleasure, so you're yet again off the mark, attempting to use the Bible as refutation, unless on a religious thread, is a sure fire sign that you don't know much on the topic, never works, and shouldn't be used by anyone who isn't an EXPERT on scripture, and calling me names only proves that you're incompitant/have utterly lost the debate/are far too emotion to debate.

Perhaps, when you are older, you may become more enlightened and aware. Until then, you really shouldn't post about things you are totally unable to understand and have NO knowledge about. Some people, who don't have any children can talk knowledgeably about children and their upbringing. Some people, who have children are not good parents and their input isn't worth much. Some young adults understand far more than others of the same age. You ? You have all of the shrillness, certaintude, and arrogance of someone totally without knowledge, understanding, and youth.

I'm so sorry that you've been traumatized by Santa and were such a willful, naughty child to boot. Coal...that's about all you deserve from Santa. Beffana would beat you with her broom, so you're lucky that most Americans don't use the Italian Befana. LOL

Thank you kindly. :) Mine is generally one of the meekest and most conciliatory voices on this board, nine times out of every tewn, G-d alone knows...

... but, sometimes -- just some-bloody-times, mind -- OOOOOOOOOHHH! [::shakes fist at the monitor, snarling::] :)

Nopardons, I go into a trance writing these posts. :)

Seriously, I did not intend to say I was like Paul. I used the example of how he was humble yet also pointed out sin to dispute the argument that was made by a poster that we all are a bunch of self-righteous jerks just for asking for some honesty and that it is wrong to make up a character and tell your kids he is real.

That said, I also recognize the depth of Paul's conviction that he was the chief of sinners. He meant it with fire.

I can't say the same about my conviction concerning my sinful state. Sure, I know I am a sinner, but not to the level that he did. And, that brings me much sadness.

No, I am not on the same level as Paul. I am much worse.

What makes you a hypocrite, is saying that when/if your ever have children, you'll play Santa for them. Since you repudiate parents telling their children about Santa, " playing Santa ", for some future child/children, IS most assuredly hypocritical.

Stop using scripture, out of context, as refutation. It just doesn't wash. And it's not so much your youth ( though that's part & parcel of it ), but your arrogant stupidity, which causes others to take a whack at your mindless, hypocritical, foolish posts.

And since you think that ALL lies are wrong, do you tell the truth 100% of the time ? I bet you don't; which makes you even MORE of a hypocrite, kiddo. LOL

Actually, all sin does cause pleasure. That is why people sin. It makes them happy...

And, if you would have read, you would have read where I said I do not harbor resentment toward my parents for telling me about Santa.

Good LORD...now the sackcloth and ashes bit ? Give it a damned rest. You're sounding like some puking televangelist/Elmer Gantry/the crazy minister on CARNIVALE. This flaming religiosity isn't the way a GOOD Christian is supposed to behave.

I suspected that you wrote in a stupor. LOL

Who told you that ... GOD ?

All sins don't make the sinner " happy ". That isn't WHY they're considered to be " sins " and you really must stop talking about things you know so little about...like Santa, Christmas, children, lying, and religion.

Do I tell the truth all the time? No, as I am a sinner just like you and everyone else but Christ.

That doesn't mean I shouldn't try to tell the truth.

And, please, I would really appreciate a logical argument as to how it is not different to have make believe fun knowing it is make believe than it is to have fun in which you MAKE SOMEONE BELIEVE THAT THE MAKE BELIEVE IS ACTUALLY REAL.

It's not like your child can't have fun during Christmas
time if he or she doesn't have Santa. I never did and
I never regretted it. Christmas was a wonderful time at
my house. Mom filled the stockings, we'd race downstairs as soon as day had broken and get em. Then we'd pillowfight
until mom and dad woke up to open presents.

But the best part of Christmas time was advent.
The candles were lit, the carols were sung, the
bible was read, and Jesus was praised.

And that's what Christmas is about. It's
a birthday celebration. Secularists can
create their own holidays.

At any rate. I still think that the
decision probably ought to have been left to the parents.
But I'm not much of a Santa fan myself ::)

All sin causes pleasure? That's probably the stupidest thing I've ever heard in the 21st century.

Many people sin out of hatred and their sins torment them and they even are so screwed up they think more sin will redeem them. They are people in serious pain. Mostly mental.

And that mental pain is evil, not their parents telling them there is a Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, or Easter Bunny when they are small children. Come on Mr. 20 year old. Any kid by age 10 that doesn't figure Santa isn't real on his own will probably end up living with his parents well into his 30's (don't laugh, I know a few like that).

I'll tell you what really screws kids up...telling them global warming is real, tax cuts are evil, government bureaucracy is good, and minorities are so stupid and incapable of taking care of themselves there must be affirmative action programs.

Now that's pure evil!

Oh come on. Sin pleases the flesh. Geez, I can't believe you actually think you know what you are talking about here....sin doesn't make people happy in their natural state....lol. Wow. You actually did get something right amazingly, however. You are actually right that sin is not sin because it makes people happy.

It pleases the natural part of man, the spiritually dead part.

No, it does not REALLY make them happy in reality and actually causes pain, as you point out correctly.

So, am I to assume that you think that parents who enourage the belief in Santa Claus, do NOT also inculcate their progeny with Christian dogma too ?

Not all of them, that's for sure.

Quite frankly, I have no idea what brought this tirade on. I never said that I thought that Christmas should be banned or anything of the sort. I said that it is a flat-out lie to tell one's children that "Santa Claus" (by whom I mean the pop-culture icon by that name, not any actual historical figure upon which he may be based) is real.
