The anti-hunting terrorists are winning. NJ Freepers, start calling Bradley Campbell at DEP or McGreevey's office.

A case where the rights of uninvited, unlicensed, protestors
are more important than the actual participants.
Shame on the state.

Just read that in the Startled Beggar about an hour ago.
You caught that the protestors were going to specifically harrass the kids?
How very *cough* brave of the protestors.

Unbelievable. They're worried that the minors might shoot the protestors. I suppose they could use that same line of reasoning with the adult hunters tomorrow.
Something is SERIOUSLY out of whack here. They should ban the damned protestors.

"The state yesterday barred nearly 300 youngsters from next week's bear hunt in a move officials said was designed to protect the young hunters from potential confrontations with protesters."
HORSEFEATHERS!!
The REAL reason is the state wants to do eveything possible to prevent future generations of hunters, target shooters, gun collectors, historical re-enactors, etc, from being created.
Choke off the youth from a hobby or avocation and it becomes a dying practise. They KNOW this.
They want all future generations to engage in activities no more dangerous than promiscuous fornication - at least that creates more Democrats.

I think if the Dems lose the 2004 election, these fringe groups will become more violent. Today they are willing to ratchet up their tactics to include heated confrontations and maybe threaten young kids. Since no politician is willing to confront them due to PC, and because they are allowing these leftist wackos get away with crossing the line, it is a matter of time it will escalate till innocent people will get hurt. If there are any level headed environmentalist out there, let this incident and many similiar to it be a warning. If these confrontations escalate in innocent deaths, your environmental goals you hold dear will be swept away in a public backlash, and the corporate polluter that you feared the most will get everything and then some. So do yourselves a favor, get hold of these leftist wackos in your movement and talk some sense into them or the movement will be finished.

They ought to just give these kids tickets to a good wholesome rap concert or something. I mean kids of this age don't need to be hunting anyway. Activity's like hanging out on street corners or smoking cigarettes in back alleys seem more appropriate.

activists indicated that young hunters would be the target of planned protests when the hunt begins. >>>
So what they are saying is that animal-rights activists/Democrats will abuse children and act like animals themselves.

Many years ago (1993 ?) Indiana was to permit the first Deer hunting ever in the Brown County State park. Apparently the over-populated deer were starving to death. I believe it because the ones I saw taken were nothing to be proud about.
Anyway, the park is about 45 minutes away from Bloomington/Indiana University and it's attending maggot invested, drug crazed hippies (read PETA).
After attempting various legal stalls to block the hunt, the sniffeling classes decided to dress up like deer and enter the park hoping to force the authorities to call the whole thing off for safety reasons.
I was there in a security roll and although it was never announced to the press (on the record at least), the word was passed around by the Indiana State Police that ANY shooting deaths that day that did not involve powder burns in the victim's mouth would be judged accidental with no charges filed.
End of protest.

If the Governor had any balls he would have introduced a few new laws instead of infringing on the childrens freedoms.
1)
Any minors targeted with harassment or intimidation during legal hunting seasons, by protesters opposed to hunting will understand they are in a life threatening situation and should be expected to use deadly force to protect their selfs.
2)
A 50 yard set back will be instituted between protesters opposed to hunting and any land that is deemed a legal kill zone. Protesters that violate this set back do so at their own peril.
Note these laws do not infringe on anyones freedoms as there are no legal penalties for violating them. They only define the obvious consequences for exercising your freedom of choice in an unwise manner, such as bringing a picket sign to a gun fight.
