Former Vermont Governor Dr. Howard Dean, who enjoyed a 40% - 17% lead in October polling of New Hampshire Democratic primary likely voters over Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, has stretched that lead in December polling to 42% - 12%. Retired general Wesley Clark is third at 9%, followed by Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman with 7%.
Polling in Zogbys Road to Boston series was conducted December 1 3, and involved 503 likely Democratic and Independent voters in New Hampshires January 27th Democratic primary election. The margin of error is +/- 4.5 percentage points, and margins are higher in sub-groups.
North Carolina Senator John Edwards earned 4%, followed by Missouri Congressman Richard Gephardt at 3% and Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich with 2%. Former Illinois Senator Carol Mosley Braun and civil rights activist Rev. Al Sharpton did not receive any votes in the poll.

Admin Mod,
Thought this important enough to put in breaking news. I think we have to remember that if Dean is not pulled down by Christmas, he begins the final stretch with a, in this case, huge lead. That helps his momentum in the final weeks.
It seems like we Republicans will be having a great year ahead. God willing, it will stay that way.

Gephardt might carry the Iowa caucuses while getting 3% in New Hampshire? Granted Gephardt doing well in Iowa will give him a bump, and Kerry might drop out at this point before the New Hampshire primary, and Gephardt might get some of his votes, but this nation is divided just every which way, big time. Right now, it is somewhat of a regional slug fest.

Wow, this is a revelation.
Looks like New Hampshire is the "Idaho" for white supremicist Democrats.

The reality is while Dean is a bit reckless, and mean, he is very, very glib, and when he reigns himself in, very effective. He clearly has the highest IQ of the bunch. I have to admire his talent. He also is very adept at trimming without seeming to trim. He exudes rather forthright candor, even while distorting the underlying facts, but not so much, that he typically makes a juicy target.

Any any poll of the caucuses understates Dean's strength. With the economy recovering, and Bush endorsing the welfare prescription drug state, it is going to be difficult to deflect Dean from his goal, since at bottom, absent unexpected events, the nomination is losing its currency as a road to power. Dems south of the Mason Dixon line may pout, but then they are used to pouting. I expect Dean if the nominee will spend most of his time in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Pennsylvania, and Ohio (with Ohio being a place he will be virtually encamped). Sure he will visit Florida, but I don't think Florda will be as good a shot for him as Ohio. As is so often the case, Ohio is the lynchpin. It must be entertaining to be living in a state that is so important, so often.
Missouri is out, because they will be annoyed that Gephardt lost. Of course, that assumes a skin tight election, which is probably no more than a 30% chance at this point.

Look for Kerry to pull out of New Hampshire, citing the lack of voters qualified to judge who should be the next President. He should campaign in France.

I know. All told, with 100% of Republicans thinking Bush will be re-elected, I suppose things don't look good for the RATS.
