LAKEWAY, Texas, December 3, 2003--The Second Amendment Sisters (SAS) are proud to announce that they will be holding the SAFER, or Second Amendment Freedoms for Everyone Rally on Mothers Day 2004.
The SAFER event will be held on Sunday May 9, 2004 in Washington, DC, currently scheduled for Freedom Plaza from 11am until 3pm.
The first SAS rally, which was named the Armed Informed Mothers Rally & March, was organized in direct response to the so-called Million Mom March (MMM). Both rallies were held on Mothers Day 2000.
It is important that we continue to counter the anti-rights crowd head on. While we really would prefer not to have a rally on Mothers Day, we felt a great need to be there on this Mothers Day, yet again. stated Dianne Sawyer, President of Second Amendment Sisters, Mothers are the backbone of this nation. Increasingly, more women are arming themselves. Women are realizing that they personally have to take steps to assure their own safety, and often the safety of their children. By far, the safest means of self-defense is a firearm.
SAS, an all unpaid volunteer organization, has grown into a national organization with dues paying members throughout the United States, and Coordinators in nearly 30 states. Self Defense is a Basic Human Right is the SAS motto.
For further information and updates on the SAFER event, please check the special SAFER page on the SAS website at www.2asisters.org/SAFER or call 877-798-2828
FAST FACTS-
-According to the U.S. Supreme Court, criminals do not have to obtain licenses or register their weapons, as that would be an act of self-incrimination. (Haynes vs. U.S. 390 U.S. 85, 1968)
-In 1976, Washington, D.C. enacted on of the most restrictive gun control laws in the nation. Since then, the citys murder rate has risen 134 percent while the national murder rate has dropped 2 percent. (Dr. Gary Kleck, University of Florida using FBI Uniform Crime Statistics, 1997)

Friends, we really need all the help you can give us to make this rally a huge success--and maybe shut the MMM's up for good! We truly believe that we have an opportunity to outnumber them at this rally, especially if our freeper friends will help, as they did at our first rally.
Some of you may not know that Second Amendment Sisters was born right here on FR. We held our first rally in DC on Mother's Day, 2000. Thanks to the generosity of Jim Robinson, we were able to ask for donations to fund that first little rally, and freepers from across the country joined us in DC, to swell our ranks to approximately 5000 people.
We've grown as an organization since that first rally, but we still need freeper help. Of course, many of our dues-paying members are freepers, as well as some of our state coordinators and others who are working with us, so we get freeper help daily. Also, we are very proud to have Angelwood as our rally coordinator in Washington DC!! She is helping us greatly, and we know that she will do an excellent job for us!
We are now asking for three things from freepers:
We need you to join us for the rally in DC.
We need you to encourage your family and friends to join us there.
And last, but not least, we need MONEY!
Contributions can be sent to our national address:
Second Amendment Sisters
900 RR 620 S
Suite C-101, PMB 228
Lakeway TX 78734
We're really looking forward to having a freeper reunion in Washington on Mother's Day as we SAS m&m's, and show this nation that we will not give up our Second Amendment Rights.

I'm thinking all of the SAS State Coordinators should send out a news release about this. As for CA, we will have representation at the rally. Yahoo!!!!!!!!!

Saundra, The press release went out nationwide via a newswire service at 9:15am this morning.
However, if any SAS Coords (or anyone!) want to send it to their local media, please do!
Thanks!
