During my tours on active duty, there was a definite order in the mess line - last was the commander, and just before him was the chaplain (moi)...that's just the way it was - and is!

That's right, my airmen always get first crack at getting breaks before I take my lunch break. And the NCOs and Sr Leadership always works on the holidays (like we did on Thanksgiving and like we will on Christmas) so that the Jr folks can get a break and see their family.

Usually we served.....single best way I knew of to see all the troops, look them in the eye, say something to them, and see how they really were doing.
