ERRATA (sort of!)
I wish to thank LucyJo for bringing to our attention that the Cindy/Gary prayer request is not stricly true. She looked at Truthorfiction.com and reported to us that it is an unfortunate hoax.
I followed up to see what was said at truthorfiction.com,and this is the story I found there:
http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/c/cindyhogman.htm Gary "Nick" Hogman Requests Prayer For His Wife, Cindy, Who is Battling Cancer-Truth!
Summary of eRumor
Thirty-two-year-old Cindy Hogman has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and with slim chances for survival. Her husband, Gary "Nick" Hogman asks your prayers. .
The Truth
A new version of this email started circulating in 2004 that claimed that Nick "Hogan" is a soldier serving in Iraq while his wife is back home suffering from cancer.
His name is Hogman, not Hogan, he's not a soldier in Iraq, and although the prayer request was true at one time, Nick told TruthOrFiction.com in January of 2002 that his wife was doing well.
He says he hopes that he and Cindy can grow old together...and thanks you for your prayers. He adds, "There are so many people in this world suffering from cancer, pray for them all."

Thank you so much for raising a flag, LucyJo. I am so very relieved to hear that the real Cindy IS ok! I think we as prayer warriors can take comfort that through our efforts to multiply our prayers, our efforts are not at all wasted. There are probably too many "Cindys" and "Garys" out there are who ARE in need of the very prayers we have offered this day whose families are afflicted by cancer or illness compounded by geographical separation and possible military service. We do indeed pray for our brothers and sisters carrying this kind of burden.
We seek to strive for the truth here on our prayer thread, and that effort takes all of us! Again, thank you for the research, LucyJo.
Thanks for the update, Texokie. It happens to everyone and you've done a yeomans task with these threads.
Thank you and may God hold you and yours in the palm of his hand.
Well, Gregory may be fictional, but chances are a real "Gregory" is serving while a loved one is sick at home, and may the prayers said in faith for a fictional Soldier cover a real Soldier in need.
((Hugs))
TEXOKIE,
I agree totally with your post about needed prayers. So sorry about not posting the link to Truth or Fiction. I got interrupted just as I began the post and had to leave the computer until now.
I agree with Peach about the excellent hard work you do with these threads and truly feel bad that I wasn't more help with this particular info. God bless and thank you so much for graciously completing it.
We can all thank God that Cindy is doing oday and ask God to receive our prayer on bahalf of anyone truly in need of prayer.
