[history]
BETTE Midler is annoyed that America has no shame. When the notorious diva appeared on "Larry King Live" she ranted: "Shame has gone missing from our lives, and that's a goddamn shame . . . People used to be ashamed. Now . . . they just say any old thing, do any old thing. I mean, they put porn stars in videos. I mean, I can remember it was only a few years ago where people who were in porn were, you know, considered really fringe people. And now they're working so hard to move it into the mainstream. And I think it's a conspiracy, myself." Speaking of porn stars, when asked about the fame of Paris Hilton, the Divine Miss M sniffs the hotel heiress has done "absolutely nothing!"

I wonder if she realizes that she is echoing what CONSERVATIVES have been saying for years.

She's been making comments like this for years, and disavowed her raunchy act from the 70's. Give her credit for sincerity.

She was in some very funny movies.

She is certainly right. But does she extend this beyond porn stars? Should Clinton be ashamed? Should homosexuals go back into the closet and hide in shame?
I think so. Does she? Or does she have all kinds of different standards for different people?

I've read she started her career performing in gay bathhouses.
After that experience, I don't see how she could be offended by anything.

..."I mean, they put porn stars in videos" As opposed to putting them in audio? "Bette Midler is annoyed that America has no shame." Shame has gone missing from our lives..."" That is not true. I don't care how conservative it sounds. The only people that have no shame are the people "...working so hard to move it into the mainstream" Someone please tell her that the large majority of us have always had our morals and values well intact, and have always behaved as such, to spite the shamelessness of the Clinton administration and various afternoon TV shows and liberal or gay agendas set upon us by them.
