The convoy was transporting a LOT of new dinar notes!!
This HAD to be a setup. Sounds to me like they let a few "insiders" know about this convoy to see if anybody tipped off the bad guys. "Hey Mohammed -- We're gonna move this big pile of money tonight by convoy through Samarra. Don't tell anybody! Mum's the word."

Since they just said on FOX that they were trying to hijack the convoys to get their hands on the currancy they were carrying, my guess would be that they would be neither POWs nor illegal combatants, they will be common thieves and will be turned over to the Iraqis for justice. I'm sure, since their specialty was cutting off the heads of women and torturing innocents, the Iraqis will be especially happy to have them in their courts.

Nothing like a big ol' 46-0 scorecard to suck that bravado right out of Hillary's underpants. Please don't use "suck" and "Hillary's underpants" in the same sentence. In fact, please don't use "Hillary's underpants" in any sentence. :)

Rita assures us that her sources say that the captives, when put in isolated cells, will talk.

More good news is that this was probably the best and brightest of the old Saddam enforcers that were called upon to do the hijacking.

Now that the Armed Services has started to announce body counts again with the sucussful repulse of two ambushes today, a well oiled propaganda machine will only start up and get into high gear.
We need a FR betting pool for when the media starts carping about "Ruthless American Killers in Iraq", "Innocents Bear Brunt of Retaliation for American Dead" and the like as it will be only a matter of time.

Oddball suggestion here. Given that the presumption is this was a grab for money to help them make their
payroll, maybe it would have been better to turn the prisoners loose. Disarm them and send them back to their leaders/management.
Yeah, we risk them being trigger fingers again, but we also drain their coffers dry by sending them back troops who have already proven themselves incompetent.

I think we can give some credit to Hillary Clinton today for our troops being ready and willing to attack, and for giving the enemies false hope.
Perhaps we should send Dems to Iraq more often. *g*

"Somebody in the Administration finally wised up. By not reporting our successes, we have played into the hands of our detractors. The only news to report is our losses, and the other side is making hay out of those numbers while the Administration refused us the opportunity to show the balance.
Hopefully, that has now changed."

I think you are exactly right. We have been killing the Iraqi terrorists all along, but weren't reporting it, and now finally we started to report those also.
I hope we will keep it up.
We can't allow the enemy to win the propaganda war.

I know how to get them to talk....pipe in a Rita Crosby show talking about Michael Jackson.

The Feyadeen have been classifed as "irregulars" by the U.S.I have a feeling that their "irregularity" is going to be cured when they are subjected to some rather intense questioning.

Two convoys...one was probably a decoy...and they attacked both..did they know which one had the money?....by attacking both at the same time maybe they were waiting to see which one was defended more...but, it didn't work out if that was the case.

Maybe the reason the US also released the info that the attackers were wearing Fedayeen outfits was to make it clear who the attackers were, that they were definitely not some "poor misunderstood Iraqis accidentally or brutally massacred by US forces".
