Since they just said on FOX that they were trying to hijack the convoys to get their hands on the currancy they were carrying, my guess would be that they would be neither POWs nor illegal combatants, they will be common thieves and will be turned over to the Iraqis for justice. I'm sure, since their specialty was cutting off the heads of women and torturing innocents, the Iraqis will be especially happy to have them in their courts.

More good news is that this was probably the best and brightest of the old Saddam enforcers that were called upon to do the hijacking.

Oddball suggestion here. Given that the presumption is this was a grab for money to help them make their
payroll, maybe it would have been better to turn the prisoners loose. Disarm them and send them back to their leaders/management.
Yeah, we risk them being trigger fingers again, but we also drain their coffers dry by sending them back troops who have already proven themselves incompetent.

Two convoys...one was probably a decoy...and they attacked both..did they know which one had the money?....by attacking both at the same time maybe they were waiting to see which one was defended more...but, it didn't work out if that was the case.
