The basic point is correct, however the writer injects largely irrelevant issues, which partially disguise her basic point.

We have dealt with the unsuitability of Democracy in most multi-racial, multi-ethnic lands, in a number of essays. While the basic malefactor leading to the persecution of the high achievers, is not Capitalism, but the demagoguery of Socialists, the phenomenon is not limited to post Marxian assaults on human success. (For example, see Compulsion For Uniformity.)

For more on the Socialist aspect of the onslaught against high achievers, see The Lies Of Socialism. For more on the unsuitability of Democracy for many Third World countries, in part because of the factors which the writer discusses, see Democracy In The Third World.

Bumping all this for later.

One quick point though, the author seem to ignore entirely a very important point in all human affairs "the rule of law".

It is my impression that many, if not most, if not all, of the so-called third world countries are deeply corrupt. If the law is not enforced fairly, if bribes must always be paid, in the law is inefficient to the point of nullity, of course no progress can be made. It is not all "democracy", "markets", and "socialism". It is also the need for blind justice.

Read more later. Sorry about her aunt.

Silly.

The problem is jealosy of the rich and powerful, pure and simple.
That plus large ethnic differences equals explosion.

Actually, "democracy" is unsuitable everywhere, as it eventually leads to exactly what the author finds bad--and the Founding Fathers of the United States termed the "tyranny of the majority". The REAL and best government is one founded on protection of individual rights for ALL CITIZENS (i.e. republics).

I actually read this book. I found it pretty interesting. She seemed pretty left leaning but it was still a good read.
