NEW YORK: Since September 11, 2001 attacks, the Americans Muslims have been under intense security from terrorism fighters, but they have also been getting some more welcome attention from US businesses. They have become a hot new niche market.
This year, Hallmark Cards introduced greeting cards celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr. The new cards quickly sold out. In 2002, the US Postal Service printed 35 million Eid stamps as part of its holiday celebrations series. This year, it expects to sell 44 million of the royal blue stamps, which feature the Arabic phrase, "Eid Mubarik" (Blessed be your Holiday)
Form-hiding gowns for Muslim women and Muslim pop music celebrating pious living are also hot sellers. The clincher is Razanne, a doll an alternative to Barbie for US Muslims families. Razanne, who comes in several skin tones, and hairstyles, wear long sleeved dresses and headscarves (Hijab). An ad for play day Razanne boosts: "Dressing modestly doesnt keep Rozanne from having fun ! On the playground, Razanne plays in her scarf and a loose fitting jumper that gives her lots of room to run and jump. 30,000 Razannes were sold in the month of Ramazan as Eid gifts.
One reason for the interest is the markets growing size. In 1970, about 100,000 self -described Muslims lived in United States. Today, the Arab American Institute estimates the population at 6.7 million, others put is as high as 10 million.
The Hallmark spokesman Deidre Paskers called it the Americanisation of Islam. Now Muslims can buy their products from the big mainstream company said Paskers. He said we are pleased to be meeting the needs of a community that didnt have that option before.

"The Hallmark spokesman Deidre Paskers called it the Americanisation of Islam..."
Huh, or is the Islamization of America? Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
How nice to read this was businesses' response to September 11th.
Something about this just ain't hallal, if you know what I mean.

Target market at 10 Million of USA population~~Roughly 3%.
Of that, lets say 20% of them are Islamo fascist sympathizers, who will definately buy these products...that leaves 2 million just here in America.
Lets say at $3.00 per card, that equals 6 Million, niche market but not bad for the bottom line...eventully being split up amongst Hallmark and competitors in the greeting card market.
..Moral question, is this ok?

I went "postal" when the Post Office attempted to sell me those Blue Islamic stamps for my Christmas cards...
Imagine!
As I was leaving, I heard the elderly woman behind me say - "Don't try to sell me those stamps, either!"
I wonder if Saudi Arabia is offering Christian stamps for Christmas cards?
It appears to me, that Muslims are one way sonsofbitches...
Their way....
F'em..

Will the recording studios now favor us with "Jihadi Rap?" Rap has never been anything else, Muslim or no Muslim. I mean, it was always a "holy" war against decent music.

FYI: More U.S. troops were killed in November, AKA "holy" month of Ramadan, than at any other time during this transition in Iraq.

"Hallmark just lost my business."Same here, and I will be passing the word on to as many others as I can. Let's see how they like losing 10-20X as much business as they get from Muslims.
To: nickcarraway
I think this is great. There is no better way to pull the teeth out of Islam than to commercialize it. Just take a look at what happened to Christmas - if we can do that to Islam, it will be no threat to anyone.
