Upon approaching the house, a seven-year-old child came out with an AK-47 rifle pointed at the soldiers. A soldier responded in self-defense and shot the child in the foot. ~~~~~~~~~~~
1st Infantry Division Soldier shows amazing restraint.

I seem to remember this sort of "use the children" technique being popular with marxists and muslims in the past, too.

It's sad when little kids used in wars. The soldier probably had a crying baby to comfort after he stopped him from shooting them.

What is a seven year old child doing holding an AK 47? My son who is only eleven wouldn't even be allowed to hold that kind of weapon. I'm not comfortable that he shot a GLOCK and according to my hubby, he did very well!

(yeah, I'm in a real bad mood. I get like that when people abuse kids)

Sounds like the soldier made a judgement call, the right one, I would say. I hope when the kid grows up, he'll understand and appreciate that the soldier spared his life, when he could have just as easily killed him. That's the difference between our guys and the thugs they're fighting.

The child was rushed to the nearest army medical facility for treatment and further evacuated by air to Baghdad. This incident is currently under investigation.
Yup, investigation; like why did the soldier open up a three round burst to this kid ?
No mercy for this child from me ..... you pick up a man's weapon you take your chances.

A great Rule of Life:
Learn (not to point guns at soldiers) by doing (something as stupid as pointing guns at soldiers).

Thank you for posting this.

Most likely they told the kid to get rid of the gun, and he ran the wrong way. But there have been cases among the Palestinians where young kids have been deliberately shoved into the middle of fire fights in order to get them killed and gain some good publicity.

That's just sick that a kid that young has an AK-47 to prance around with.. but I think the soldier shot him in the foot purposefully, just to scare the kid so he wouldn't shoot them.

I can see this as a new tactic being used against the coalition. If the Iraqi's and the rest of the Islamafascists can accuse American soldiers of killing children they will have more sympathy for their cause of attacking coalition forces. The arabs are very good at distorting images(al jazeera, al arabiya)
