It is a characteristic of the romantic past of twentieth century socialism that almost all of the Believers were convinced that the Masses were with them, or were on the verge of being with them.

A DU poster is a member of the Activist Base. He has to believe that Most Americans think as he does. He's invested much of his adult life in the pursuit of his political convictions and the righteousness of his cause. If, as I suspect, the nation is trending Republican, then our DU friend might be forced to question his First Principles.

Neither Democrats nor Republicans are fond of questioning their First Principles. A lot of one's ego is tied up in them.

Thus, a morale boosting trip taken by the President becomes, in his mind, a craven photo-opportunity of an usurper who doesn't deserve to command these men. I've seen lefties. I have one in my family. They are sincere in their convictions and in their hate.

Unfortunately for them, hate is what they have to offer the most of right now. Bush has successfully stolen a march around their flanks on education and prescription drugs, grown the economy, prosecuted the war against Al Qaeda, and successfully deposed Saddam Hussein. The DU crowd, along with the larger party and their outriders in the major media, don't have much left to offer.

Arnold's election was a preview of what is to come. The groping disclosures should have killed his campaign. They didn't, and Arnie understood that they wouldn't, because he was offering something, while the Democrats offered the Same Old Thing. Bush is in the same position, only without the skeletons in the closet.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

All I saw was a display of patriotism and a showing and celebration of the flag and freedom. Looked like people having a great time in the good ol' U.S. of A.

Where do you get right wing out of anything that went on there?

This guy incensed them. They are so dense I'm surprised even light can escape. They make it so so easy. The visceral hatred of anything smacking of Patriotism is overpowering.

Yes, it really is funny. They couldn't be more wrong.

I'll be very interested to see how it goes in Nov. '04. I think MANY of traditional dem voters, such as women, blacks, Jews, hispanics, gays will desert them. It would be wonderful if the dems got rejected by all but the hard-core pampered white liberals. That can't be more that 20% of the populace, at most.

I really think the average person on the street got the message on 9/11: these people want to kill us, and the only way to stop them is by force. It is the Clintoons own narcissitic ineptitude that has led the dems away, double time, from even the HOPE of a winning strategy for next year.

They could've been contenders, not for President, but as leaders of America, now I think they are just in a race for first place on the trash heap of history. And they even lost that race, to Saddam.

SAD, DAMN!
