Thanksgiving may find Edrina, 32, giving birth to a new baby, a daughter, the doctors say, who is due on the holiday. The new baby will add to Edrina's already very busy household when she comes home to join nine brothers and sisters.

Edrina is a single mother who is grateful to her own mother for lending a hand. "My mom really helps me out a lot," she says. "She tries hard to help me."

Good Lord! Believe it or not, this article is actually an appeal for a Christmas giving program. Sounds as if this woman needs a gift she is unlikely to receive--and her kids need a real home with some people who have an ounce of decency and good sense. But, of course, saying that is so judgmental . . .

December is the last month she is eligible to receive welfare. She receives a Social Security payment for Tevin, but that check just barely covers her rent. She is concerned about how she will pay her utilities after December. When asked what she will do, Edrina says: "Just pray."

Considering she lives in a one bedroom apartment and supposedly stays home all day with the younger children I find it odd that she was able to sneak in an additional conception moment.

At least welfare won't be paying her after December.

Seeing as she's borne 10 wards of the state, I think involuntary sterilization would be justified.

This is closely related to the gay marriage issue. She probably has 10 bastards but who knows. Maybe some of the kids have a father who died which would make then not bastards. But we can't say that word because it implies that a person is not legitimate.

The intent is that that birth is not legitimate because it is not born to a family but out of "wedlock". It used to be that that was a shameful thing. When we naturalized birth and removed the concept of bastard we took a pretty good step towards normalizing gay marriages.
