Thanks, aomagrat, for today's history of the USS Arkansas. She sure had a long life and earned 4 battle stars. Have a happy thanksgiving! And thank you for your service to our country.

USCGC Polar Sea (WAGB-11) Deep Freeze '04
This one hurt a bit. I know it had to be hard on the crew to have things turn out the way they did. Our Coast Guard work hard to keep our country safe and to save people who find themselves in dire straits.
My heart goes out to this crew, whose hearts are heavy.
And my condolences go out to the Moore family.
Now I must get on it and get something done around here. boohiss! LOL!! I'll see y'all tomorrow!

Quiet in the room
fire on the hearth
a single snifter in my hand
a silent toast

That is terrific! I am so pleased that America is stepping up and making these types of adventures available for our troops.
We WILL expect pictures of said adventure.

Well, I'll give pics a shot. We've got three albums from the May Disney run, but nothing's digital..
Burned up eight cameras that week.
We've pulled every trick we learned from seven years working at The Mouse: rental car vs. flying; deals on tickets; cheapest hotels; time the trip before the prime dates; pack our own food; the works!
Missus even got a microwave for her birthday - we're cooking in the room! Tightwads...

Not only did Ma (can you believe it!?)
COOK today, she then got a tad bit confused about just what it means to live in the "south."
Look what she did with the curtains in her room!!!
