November 25, 2003 -- THE president of Show time had some strong words yesterday for the chairman of CBS about the ill-fated miniseries about Ronald and Nancy Reagan that was cancelled by CBS, then dumped on Showtime by their parent company, Viacom. "If [CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves] didn't know what movie he was getting, that's not the fault of the producers, the director or anyone associated with the film," said Robert Greenblatt, president of entertainment for Showtime Networks, in a telephone news conference yesterday with TV critics.

The miniseries is scheduled to make its long-awaited debut on Showtime this Sunday night at 8... I think I'll pass.

I get Showtime for free. And even at that price it's hardly worth it. Most of the stuff is unwatchable.
Anyway, I'm going to at least tape the show and watch it and make my own notes and report back.
What I find interesting is the usual hypocrisy of the left. While they trash a living man with lies and distortions, just this last few weeks they've been all over the TV and print and the internet bowing to the their king JFK 40 years after he got shot in Dallas.
They are so protective of him they denounce and attack anyone that dares point out 1)he was a lousy president overall, 2)if you point out his, by today's standards, conservative principles on economics you are deemed unworthy for life or 3)you bring up the fact his foreign policy was for more reckless than what they accuse Bush of today.
And given he was on more drugs that even Rush Limbaugh couldn't get on a 24/7 basis just to stand up, it's laughable at how far the left will go in lying about the man to uphold their one shining star other than Bill Clinton.
They way things are going, Clinton is going to have himself shot so he can be granted sainthood too!
But my favorite is the "JFK wouldn't have gotten into Vietnam" koolaid drinkers. Uh, Bay of Pigs? Nuclear stand off with Kruschev? Giving up missiles in Turkey? He was so against the wall he would have jumped into Vietnam the minute the French left and poured in more and more troops. The only conjecture I'd have is that maybe, but I doubt it, just maybe he'd have fought the war by letting the military do it's job and tell Congress to stop interfering in the minutae.

Showtime is just trying to get a bunch of publicity at this point to boost ratings.

If you watch the NFL on Fox and CBS simultaneously, you notice that CBS bombards the viewer with commercials much more than Fox. They jam commcercials in everywhere. Gotta make up the cost of that damned movie, I guess.

YOu are exactly correct.
I lived in S. Fla at the time of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
After I had a chance to sit back and digest what it was all about, I came to the conclusion that, The Missiles of October was about the The Elections of November. A crisis timed to ensure the outcome Kennedy wanted and was likely not to get.
"Rally 'round the Flag Boys", and all that.

Well then it would cost you nothing to cancel it in protest. It's a crappy channel peddling porn (political and otherwise) anyway.

A pay channel showed the Bush-9/11 story that had some good reviews on FR. Showtime or some other one?
