The problem with any conspiracy theory is that nobody in their right mind would choose a flake like Lee Harvey Oswald to pull off a stunt like this. Especially not the Soviets. How do we really know that LHO was a genuine flake? Couldn't that have been part of the M.O. chosen for him?
If I wanted people to think I was a flake, I bet I could do a pretty convincing job of faking it.
(Yes, I know that's an invitation for a good wise crack. We'll see how well you display a little self-discipline. LOL!)

I like your train of thought much better.

Are you saying you believe the Warren Commission's Report?
To: Nita Nupress
Dang that fine print. I was all primed!!
I have yet to read any report that LHO was a cunning or stable person. Everyone who knew him, from his relatives to his acquaintances, thought he was troubled. Intelligent perhaps, but not normal.
It's possible that the gubbermint got to everyone who knew him well and paid them off, but at some point you have to go with the uncontradicted evidence that is out there.

What about the time that LHO was in jail, are there any reports of that time Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning, wonder what he had to say to anyone. And Ruby, it is just too far fetched that he was overcome with anger to do this hit so that really thickens the plot, if it weren't for that, it would be easier to accept the lone gunman theory.

"Some time in the mid or late 60s Marina married a Texas Instruments electronic technician. It was a minor news story because they eloped to a small nearby town to dodge the press. I have no idea if they are still married."
I think the marriage has been over for some years. The last I read, Marina was working in a Dallas retail store as a clerk. I wonder what happened to her children.

Are you saying you believe the Warren Commission's Report? I've only read brief excerpts, so I can't endorse it in total.
I've not been convinced, or even close to it, by any of the various conspiracy plots that have been offered up.
Kennedy had a lot of political enemies, just as Bush or Clinton or anyone else who is President has. But that doesn't implicate any of them.

If I wanted people to think I was a flake, I bet I could do a pretty convincing job of faking it.To be a consistent flake is something of a challenge if you're really not flaky. Imagine slipping up and acting like a sensible human being when someone else is watching.

Unless he was chosen to be the fall guy, the "patsy". That is what he called himself. I heard him say it on tape.

Good point. After I made that statement, I remembered how there were tons of people who thought LHO was a few bricks shy of a load. It would be hard to be
that consistent over such a protracted period of time.
I was interested in this subject many years ago and read everything I could get my hands on, including much of the Warren Report. Even though I think the official "lone gunman theory" is a huge stretch to believe, I never did find a conspiracy theory that didn't have its own flaws of logic. What's your opinion on it, Poohbah?
Somebody ping me if this thing is ever solved. :-)

WOAI comes in well here in Iowa on a good night.
I've always figured Oswald was the lone shooter, which is quite apart from saying there was no conspiracy. He was a communist agent as far as I'm concerned.

Much of the criticism of the lone gunman theory rests on the "magic bullet" supposedly being in pristine condition.
That is the product of the conspiracy theorists showing you only a side view of the bullet. A base view, especially when done side-by-side with a truly pristine Mannlicher-Carcano bullet, shows just how much damage was done to it--one side (the side opposite the good side that's always shown by the conspiracy types) is completely flattened, and the curvature on the good side is somewhat distorted (which isn't evident in a side-on shot with no perspective).
Additionally, the theorists misplace Connally in the car--they assume that he was sitting at the same level and directly in front of Kennedy. Actually, he was slightly lower and a bit to the left. When put Connally in his true position, the bullet path through both bodies lines up much better.
Also, the "Jack Ruby" aspect of the conspiracy theory falls apart when you look at the timing of his arrival at the jail--if Oswald hadn't asked for a sweater, Ruby would have gotten to the jail five minutes AFTER Oswald was transferred.
One additional point: Ruby was kind to animals, especially to his dog (this was attested by all of his friends). He left his dog in his car before going to the Western Union office, and taking a side trip to the jail. If he'd willfully intended to shoot Oswald at the time, he wouldn't have left that dog in the car.

So maybe the KGB did it. Why would that be so shocking? They assassinated lots of people. They probably did it just to show off (within the circle).
And I've never understood why a practiced marksman couldn't squeeze off those last 2 shots in a hurry.
