Dubious Source, I know, but some of the detailed information seems potentially accurate.

suicide bombers and car bombs have been my biggest fear for our country since 9/11 happened. thank goodness we haven't been hit this way (yet?)
To: SoggyBottomBoy
I'm really worried that car bombs will seem minor compared to their "spectacular" attack.
To: jerseygirl
Dubious or not, those are pretty reasonable security precautions. What I don't see are means of stopping a car crashing through the barriers. But what kind of weapon is available, in quantity, to react quickly enough to aim at and destroy a speeding auto, particularly if the security parameter is close in?
To: jerseygirl
It all depends on where it goes off.
I have been looking for confirmation of this story but have not found any yet. Which means very little as I do not regard my searching abilities as any great shakes.

Gee ... Do you think if Americans are slaughtered in their own neighborhoods and blood runs through our streets there might be ANY potential negative reprocussions for local adherants of the Religion Of Piece[sic] ?< /sarcasm >

AQ have not done car bombings here for one reason: they know that once shopping malls filled with teenagers or elementary schools start exploding, the soccer moms will in short order support...no, demand either mass deportations of all middle-eastern types. This would basically shut down AQ's ability to function in the US with the level of freedom that they have become accustomed to.
AQ won't do car bombings here unless it is part of a grand finale, and something tells me that will either be biological and/or nuclear.

Marked "For Official Use Only," the four-page memo was distributed Friday to federal departments and agencies, as well as state security managers and
WE had a term for this once upon a time where I worked: "Job Justification" (publish/issue memos to let the bosses/other departments know you were still alive, on the job and still IMPORTANT)
Of course, it may have beneficial side-effects, i.e., serve notice to terrorists that our first-lines of security are still active ...

Last night as I was driving back into the U.S. from a weekend in Toronto, there were officers with bomb-sniffing dogs checking every vehicle as it came OUT of the Detroit/Windsor tunnel.
I thought to myself, idiots! They should be checking the cars before allowing them to go IN the tunnel. The logical place to detonate would be INSIDE THE TUNNEL, and our brilliant Homeland Security, INS, and of course our "Canadian allies" don't bother to inspect vehicles that are leaving the country.

Well, it's not impossible, but it WOULD be a much more stupid act here than it would anywhere else on the planet.
Beginning homocide car bombings here in the United States would cause us, the bulk and mainstream of the population, to do exactly the things we have refrained from doing since 9/11/01: assault, breaking and entering and murder against Arab Muslims and their homes in this country. In many areas, what we would be looking for is bomb making material. In most areas, there wouldn't be the puclic lynchings Araba and other leftists drool for: there'd be quiet disappearances, and none of the neighbors would know anything about them.
In addition, the American military is STILL plenty strong enough to kick more @ss, and such a thing would probably land the eagle in Iran with all talons maiming.
Yeah, the terrorist are here, and bomb making materials are easy to get of you have the knowledge - I'm no slouch with fire or explosives, and I'm married to explosives and fire expert so I know whereof I speak. So homocide bombers have the two requisites for a terrorist attack of that type here.
It boils down to this though: homocide bomb and have a short candy binge resulting in sugar shock - and face the wrath of the American people AND the power of the American military, only a fraction of which any of them have ever met - or just not do it and stick to safer targets where they won't have to suffer the consequences??

I don't know, the cells here would have to be operating with almost total autonomy. communications surveillance is likely extremely high amongst the target population. if anything, I expect "lone wolf" type attacks like the buy at El Al in the LA airport.

Wonderful ! Thanks to WND ( and a few others publishing sensational news AND those of us who DEMAND sensationalism ),the fun-loving freaks at al-Qaeda score a "win" without lifting a finger !!
Why go to the trouble of planting bombs, etc., etc. , when all you have to do to create terror is talk about it ??
Since terror is the name of the game, every story that creates terror is a point for the bearded ones.
Naturally, all of us suave sophisticates here understand that.......

How's about a timely 12 ga. shotgun slug through the vehicle's radiator and over the steering wheel?
Or some 12 ga. 00-buckshot through the tires or near the steering wheel?
The very low-maintenance Remington Model 870 pump shotgun, at a cost of about $250, should be within the budget of every homeowner, security officer, LEO, (crossing guard, florist, paperboy), etc.
The "photo-op" impact of the result likely would take the edge of anticipation off of the expected introduction to the standard-issue harem of Model-1/Mod-1 72 virgins.
And the "licensing" requirements for a 12 ga. shotgun are minimal....

The USA is so target-rich, they don't need suicide bombers. Parked car or truck bombs will do nicely, as well as packages left in malls.
