The jury's decision to recommend a death sentence for John Allen Muhammad, however, serves to further perpetuate an endless cycle of violence

No, with John Allen Muhammad alive we had a cycle of violence. If he assumes room temperature, I can assure you that he will never commit another violent act again.

I've always tended toward the 'against' side of capital punishment. That being said, if ever there was a case where death is not only appropriate, but necessary, this is the case. Fry you SOB!

The death penalty may be flawed but one good thing you can say about it. When administered to the likes of John Allen Mohammed, you can rest assured that John Allen Mohammed won't be killing anybody ever again.

"Amnesty International opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception as it is the ultimate denial of human rights, and we will continue to demand unconditionally its worldwide abolition."

I would think that the murder of innocent victims is the "ultimate denial" of their human rights. The jury did GOOD!

So let me get this straight:

Strapping mass-murderer John Muhammad to a gurney and putting him down like the dog that he is, rather than simply letting him languish in prison for the next 40 years, is going to encourage somebody else to commit a violent act.

Bullshit.

"Amnesty International extends its deepest sympathies to all of the victims and their families who have been impacted by the tragic shootings, which plagued the DC area last year. The jury's decision to recommend a death sentence for John Allen Muhammad, however, serves to further perpetuate an endless cycle of violence.

Oh pooey. Amnesty Int'l has now officially passed into the realm of meaninglessness.

No, no, no vioence unto brother Muhammed! No, never! At some time in the future a needle will be gently placed in him and a cocktail of really yummy chemical, raised to his body temperature, will flow into his arm. His only pain will be the knowledge in his heart and mind of the truly terrible hell to which he is going. But, no, no violence.

BTW, I assume this outfit issued a roughly similar statement when this gephardt was mudering innocent people.

Well, isn't that just touching? So humane and... um, good!

***serves to further perpetuate an endless cycle of violence***

Seems to me this is one way to end this "cycle of violence".
