Jackson's explicit letters seized (child's name redacted for FR)
The Daily Telegraph ^ | November 24th, 2003 | CAROLINE GRAHAM and SHARON CHURCHER

EXPLICIT letters and poems said to have been written by Michael Jackson to his alleged victim will form the centrepiece of the sex-abuse case against him.

Police seized at least a dozen letters during the raid on Jackson's Neverland ranch last week.

"The district attorney is convinced these letters will be crucial to the case against Jackson," a source close to the investigation said yesterday.

"The boy told investigators about letters and poems and their precise location inside Michael's home. These letters were among the evidence seized, along with videotapes.

"They are very explicit and intimate and show a degree of familiarity. Basically, they appear to be love letters from Michael to the boy."

The accuser, 12-year-old Los Angeles cancer victim ******, also told police Jackson's pet name for him was Rubba.

"The boy first told this to his therapist, then repeated it to police," the source said.

"He said Jackson called him Rubba because one of the games they used to play was called rubba rubba. The boy said, 'Michael told me he was my rubba rubba friend."'

Although police handling the case in Santa Barbara, California, have been barred from revealing any details, it is understood the alleged abuse took place in February.

Jackson is said to have befriended ****** -- who, during a controversial British documentary screened earlier this year, admitted having shared a bed with the singer -- over a long period.

A source close to 45-year-old Jackson said: "For the past five or six years, he's taken kids from fractured homes and nurtured them as a father figure. As they get older, he teaches them fun things to do.

"Michael says he learned this from an adult when he was a teenager. No-one on his staff ever said anything. He's a tyrant. Everybody obeys the man."

Another Jackson source said: "The boy told of everything that went on and described things in Michael's closets, his bathroom, what was under his bed."

In her statements to police, ******'s mother, #####, has revealed that Jackson encouraged her son to call him "Daddy".

##### has claimed she, ****** and his two siblings were held virtual prisoners at Neverland, 100km north of Santa Barbara.

When she learned of her son's accusations of molestation -- which included claims that Jackson plied him with wine and sleeping pills -- she fled with her family in the dead of night.

A source close to district attorney Tom Sneddon, who will prosecute the case, said: "The DA is very confident with the evidence he has. This includes letters, videos and computer files. They believe they have enough to nail Jackson."

Jackson's legal team is said to be encouraging him to consider a plea bargain, possibly an insanity defence that would allow him to serve time in a state mental hospital instead of jail.

There was speculation yesterday that the singer raised his $3 million bail with the help of Miami-based Al Malnik, a lawyer for notorious gangster Meyer Lansky, who died in 1983.

Malnik reportedly began making large loans to Jackson when his career nosedived.

Malnik, 69, was cited by the New Jersey Casino Control Commission in 1980 and 1992 as a person of unsuitable character.

The prosecution source said: "It just gets weirder and weirder. Michael supposedly has financial problems, but hiring someone with Mob connections is bizarre."

Prosecutors are said to be spreading a net around the world for other alleged victims. One boy of special interest is said to be in El Salvador, another in South Africa.

They are also said to be considering quizzing the son of an English premiership footballer.

Charges of aiding and abetting are likely to be filed against members of Jackson's entourage.

At the same time as the Neverland swoop, police raided two homes in Los Angeles.

One was reportedly the residence of Marc Schaffel, a gay video producer who filmed the rebuttal tape Jackson released just after Martin Bashir's British documentary aired.

In your tagline you ask who will play Jacko in the movie?

How about Marcel Marceau(sp), that French mime?

The movie company could save $$$$ on white face paint!

I think it's completely normal because Serena takes her sport very seriously. She's very into fashion like Versace and all that which people may not know. Anna K is out of tennis I think, but you know these days it's all about eye candy.

I'm doing just fine with this schizophrenic NY weather...

Yet, if MJ is proven guilty, there will be mindless idiots, celebrity and regular citizens, who will defend him. Celebrity has become a religion to some people.

Unreal that as a pre teen I loved to listen to the Jackson 5.

My son too as a kid listened to Micheal Jackson and had the doll too.

Now as with most mental illnessess he with age has deteriated (sp) into complete madness/evil.

God forgive him and all those who turned their backs on his sins for the love and greed of money.

I detest what he has become and I fear it is to late for medical therapy as he has disregared his own mental health to the point of hurting others and pissing away his own life on feel good things instead of do good things.

BTW Is there a game called Rubba or is that some sick game he named/made up?

OJ Simpson had too but it did not matter when the tribal allegiance card was played. The real question is which jury will get the case. I doubt there will be a change of venue but do you honestly think Michael Jackson would be convicted by a typical Los Angeles jury ?

"It will be interesting to hear the defense's reason for wanting to end financial aid to the family. They could say that Jackson wanted to help pay the boy's medical bills, but that the mother kept wanting more and more, and he was afraid that if he didn't give it to her, that she would make a false accusation about him."

According to FOX, Jackson did pay his medical bills.

I did a google search when I first read the article and the top references were to Rubba Ducks.

I did find an interesting link from 1994 that claims:

One source indicates that Michael liked to share his bed with his young friends, to cuddle up with them, and to press their penises together as part of the natural whole body contact of cuddling - an intimacy he supposedly referred to as "rubba".

In the '93 case, the boy's statement does refer to such and act happening. It doesn't say that Jacko called it Rubba specifically though.

Isn't Serena Williams the pro tennis player?

What on Gods Green earth is she doing hanging out with that bunch?

Geeze I changed my diet a few years back and succesfully over came bad GI ailments and now with all this perversion becoming mainstream in the secular world I feel like vomiting from the stench. Ay yeye (sp).

Now where did I stash the Mylanta, pepsid and phenagren for emergencies.

Why is all this in the press? The prosecutors should not be doing this. They just shouldn't. When minors are involved, and a trial is as high-profile as this one is, they should be doing everything they can possibly do to protect the witnesses AND keep vital information from susceptibility to dismissal.

Ask Mark Geragos. He's the king of false information and leaks.

It makes you wonder why someone feels so compelled to defend...pedophiles.

Maybe because MJ isn't the only celebrity who's sexual preferences aren't yet legal, despite the "advances" made by Lawrence v. Texas.

Mark my words: same-sex marriage isn't the only European import headed for our shores; next on the list is lowering the age of consent for same-sex vice. It was recently lowered to 16 in the UK and is lower still in some other European countries. This isn't quite down to MJ standards yet, but it's on the way.

Child molesters have all sorts of 'cutsie' names for sexual things. throw up.

I've heard there is no way MJ will stand up for Court. He just won't make it, not without being so weird, as to defy logic. He is a rich, powerful man and used to getting his own way, about everything. I don't believe his lawyer will ever convince him otherwise. Lawyers can try and put as normal a spin on things as possible, but in the end, all they have is Jackson. I think an insanity defense is the only way for this nut case. OTOH, I hate to see that happen, because Jackson is now, and always has been, fully aware of what he is doing. imo.

I'd bet these 'persons of unsavory repute' are hardly happy their name is being brought into the limelight. :)
