Bombshell: Kobe Accuser Had Sex with Key Witness

A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecution’s key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecution’s star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.

Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.

But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.

Nah, my issue is with guys who fantisize about getting accused of rape, rightly or wrongly, and how they might go about getting away with it.

If he is innocent --- how can he get out of a false accusation without proving the accuser is a liar?

False dilemma. If he's innocent, he needs to prove that she's lying about the charge, not that she may or may not have had sex with other men.

A woman can have sex with ten men (though I wouldn't condone it) and still be raped by the eleventh.

But a woman that has sex with 10 men and then the 11th is the only rich and famous one worth sueing --- then you'd still have to be suspicious of her motives. Especially when she ---- with all that other DNA in her couldn't wait to get up to his hotel room.

If Kobe is innocent, then he needs a fair opportunity to prove it, and to prove that his accuser is a conniving liar.

What lie has she told? Has she lied about her sexual history?

There is no need, as her history irrelevant as to whether or not Kobe Bryant raped her. This is about his actions, not hers.

You just want to rah rah Kobe while he has his team humiliate his accuser on irrelevencies.

Rapists of the world applaud your efforts, be sure of that.

If I didn't know better, by reading some of the comments here, one might think that Kobe must prove his innocence, thus lifting the burden of proof from the DA's shoulders.

No one here, especially not YOU, know all of the facts. We each read the news and try to digest the facts; well, many of us do...some made up their minds and then shut them, when the news of this alledged event first broke.

Some women lie about being raped;some don't. The reasons vary, for the liars and sometimes, good liars, with GREAT lawyers, can pull it off. The reverse is true of rapists.

Why, exactly, do YOU believe that Kobe raped this girl ? Where is the proof, the factual evidence, the reasons you not only hold that belief, but also smarmily malign those who aren't adamently in total agreement with you ?

If she just left an orgy and was headed home and was intercepted along the way and raped --- it would be easy enough to call that rape --- but a woman who is already carrying around a bit of DNA on her who heads up to a man's hotel room to spend some time alone with him just isn't as believable when she claims it was rape. For one --- I don't think this woman is exactly naive about why men she doesn't know would invite her up to their hotel room and not naive about what it means to answer that call and go up.

You've got to admit --- this isn't the best victim-witness around.

The difficulty seems to rest with her defenders here: her credibility is the heart of the case. She is becoming less credible with every emerging factoid, yet they call that 'smearing.'

Rape is a horrid, disgusting, shameful act. So is lying.So is being blind to evidence and new facts.

You've got to admit, Kobe put himself in this position. The rape shield rules were already in place when he decided, at best, to commit adultery by way of anal sex with a woman he'd just met.

There's no reason to change the rules just because he can dunk a basketball.

ITA with you. Wasn't Pietrack the guy who everyone said had an upstanding character ? So she had something going with the guy - it doesn't mean Kobe didn't force himself on her. Ater all, he is an NBA player.

That's why I think history does matter --- Kobe has no history of raping women --- and why would he wait until some skanky girl comes up to his room to decide to pull off his first rape when plenty of groupies routinely make themselves available. She couldn't have seemed any different than the usual groupie by her willingness to come up to his room, so the rape doesn't make sense.

I didn't say they gave the story to Globe, but Team Kobe has been hot to smear the accuser all along, including during the preliminary hearing. No libel here, but if you think there is, e-mail my posts to Kobe's lawyers.

Because that's the explanation that best fits the facts, to my eyes. Maybe I'm wrong, and that's why we have trials. However, some things aren't relevant in rape trials, and that's what's bugging the Kobe partisans.
