Bombshell: Kobe Accuser Had Sex with Key Witness
The Globe ^ | 11/20/03 | Globe

Posted on 11/21/2003 11:44:43 AM PST by Smogger

A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecution’s key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecution’s star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.

Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.

But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.

For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

" ... because it gives her a reason to lie."

I guess you missed the part about her having to take the stand and take an oath before God.

My prediction: Kobe won't be taking the stand in his defense.

A slut can still be raped. Now if she had charged the bellhop and whoever else with rape, she may have a problem.

Again. You have completely missed the point. It doesn't matter whether she had sex with the bellhop or not. If she was romantic with the bellhop the case is finished IMHO.

That's an interesting point. I may have jumped the gun on this bellhop thing. But, it will still do some damage to the procecution.

Only if people are gullible enough to take Globe headlines as gospel.

Perhaps he was envisioning a large cash settlement that he could share in.

"So Michael Jackson shares a bed with a 14-year-old, has to post $3 million bail, and is the most hated man on earth.

Kobe Bryant has violent back-entry sex with a woman -- even if she agreed to some early snuggling -- and he's still a hero.

What am I missing?"

The answer is according to the difference between the mindsets of those that vote Repubican vs. Democrat: (sarcasm/truth serum)

Answer:
Republicans = Does smack of hypocrisy, doesn't it? I can see it. Alleged pedophil vs. alleged rapist, where are their morals and if guilty, prosecute to the full extent of the law. Hope for a fair trial. Damn Hollywood for their lack of gravitas in confronting and denouncing these type of crimes....

Democrats = Huh?! What's your point? What hypocrisy-sounds fine to me. Bring out Democrat playbook. Hope both get off free. We're for the underdog(s). Protect the criminal rights rather than victim rights. How much money can we squeeze out of them. Go Hollywood! 'If the glove don't fit, must acquit!' The hell with the rule of law. Steer these trials to the most liberal judge. Overplay the race card....

Now.....as these two cases work themselves to trial, pay attention to peoples' comments, reactions and mindset. What you hear is the difference between the two political parties and why people vote (and jurors conclude) the way they do.

Smogger, we all know what your point is. Kobe's innocent, she's a whore, and anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

What a crock of crap.......I don't care if she had sex the same day, within the hour....If she was raped, she was raped.

Come on. I'm trying to be reasonable here. Sex with the bellhop does raise doubt. It's not conclusive, but it could be argued that it gives her a reason to lie.

Just a little surprised at the vicious attacks on the girl and the seemingly double standard. She's free and he's married yet she is cursed for having sex with him and others.

Not sure if he had been cheating but do think he was willing to cheat if the opportunity arose.

Why should she be damned for having sex with him and others while he is given a pass.......

Settlement? This was not a civil suit, it was a felony criminal complaint made the morning after the fact.

We don't know any FACTS we only know spin and leaks designed to trash the girl and protect ESPN's star athlete.

Just my opinion, of course.

So what? The DA still felt he had enough to bring a likelihood of conviction or he would not have brought the case to trial.

Oh yeah right. The local DA is going to hang the local Sheriff who he has to work with every day out to dry after the local Sheriff goes behind his back and obtains an arrest warrant. Yeah I could see they would have a GREAT working relationship after he made the local Sheriff look like a complete a**hole. And I can see what a great career move it would be for the local DA to hang the "poor sweet local country bumpkin" out to dry up against the big bad rich black out of town athlete. No sir there is no other reason to bring the case to trial, but the "slam-dunk evidence. Riiiiiight.

Sounds like she's not fussy about what she has on her clothes, or when she changes them.

...or who she takes them off in front of, and how often.

The judge knows alot of the facts. He says ...

"Almost all of the evidence introduced at the preliminary hearing permits multiple inferences which, when viewed either independently or collectively, and upon reasonable inference, do not support a finding of probable cause."

That's the beauty of criminal law. One agency arrests; another charges. That's exactly how it works.
