A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecutions key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecutions star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.
Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.
But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.
For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

I think something was quite different in this case, but can't recall what it is.
I remember reading reports that the DA's office was FURIOUS that Bryant was arrested without consultation of the DA's office; and I remember reading that it had happened before and the case had to be withdrawn.
I'll see if I can find it.

I wouldn't even begin to generalize about the sexual habits of women after having been raped.

So if a woman has sex prior to a rape by another guy, it is somehow not a "valid" rape? Anita Broaddrick may have had sex before the First Rapist did his job on her, so it cannot now be called a rape? If the girl is a groupie and asked for it by her attitude etc. and still was forced against her will, it is not a rape? I need clarification. What is NOW's opinion on what constitutes a rape? (oh oh..they may not have opined on the Kobe allegation yet, or did they?)

But can't you see the personaly prejudices from the other side?
If she was 5 years old, or an 86 year old granny, or a nun, or brain damaged and helpless...every guy here would be out with pitchforks after him.
But because she is a healthy, young woman who is in the age of consent, who wasn't Perfect-Polly-Pureheart. Who wasn't perfect. Who could have made a stupid mistake...the pitchforks were out after her from day one.
Lets just say I know lots of girls like her. And yes, they were raped. I avoid these threads for that very reason. Which is why I am going now.
They make me ill (and also make sure to sleep with the shot gun on one side of the bed and the hound dog on the other).

(Nope, this isn't breaking news either. Come back after dinner.)

I'm thinking the same thing.
One thing though: I just don't see the racial aspect of this, but for those who wish to make it that way.

One has to wonder WHY they refuse to test it.Well we know it doesn't incriminate Kobe and it certainly doesn't help the accuser's case or they'd divulge who's it is/was (blechh).

She coulda had sex 10 minutes before she she walked into Kobe's room... and yes folks, ~~GASTHP!~~ she STILL could have been raped. Hear! Hear! She could have had sex with every single male in the freakin' hotel, the college team down the street, a few guys at a convention a couple hotels over, gone in to Kobe's room and STILL have been raped. Her sex life should really play no part in this trial at all, nor in the pre-trial publicity. She's no angel, but people who aren't on society's "good" list can be crime victims as well. The hoop jumping pretzel logic by the celebrity worshipers in here is somewhat stomach-turning.
Personally, I believe adultery should be punishable by castration, but hey, that's just me. Of course, Kobe could have shot her on national TV and some of the jock-sniffers in here would have twisted themselves into pretzels to defend him.
He may be guilty, he may be not guilty. The court will decide that. That is, after all, why we have trials. With luck, the judge will be a bit better at his or her job than Lance Ito. But guilty or not guilty, Kobe is by no means innocent. This "poor, poor Kobe, having his life ruined by some vicious slut" was not forced to whip it out and use it on her, in violation of his vows. And if the girl's sexual history is fair game, shouldn't his apparent willingness to lie to his wife, to God, and to anyone at his wedding be taken into consideration too? It might be good to remember that as this thread continues.

Again, it is common for an arresting agency to have charges dropped because the prosecutorial agency feels there hasn't been enough investigative work done before such an arrest is made.
A DA will often decline prosecution, tell the police detective to pursue further investigative leads, and present the case again to the prosecutorial agency for another filing decision.
I used to work for a felony intake deputy in Sacramento, CA and it was quite common.

Exactly. I know two guys were asked and refused; it's certainly not going to help her case if it's yet another guy "to be named at a later date."
On the other hand, if they thought it was Bryant's, why wouldn't they test it?

The case is falling apart, and a lot of people just dont want to accept that they could be so wrong. That sure seems to be the case.

Of course it is still rape. But in the case of the groupie, how do you prove it beyond a reasonable doubt?

Don't forget another possible motive: big lawsuit for money after the conviction. The boyfriend may be in on it. Not saying it happened. Just that it's a possibility that shouldn't be overlooked.
To: marajade
So in other words, because rape exists in the world, her actions cannot be entered into evidence because she has accused someone of rape?
The sexual behavior of rape victims is well documented. There are groups of victim supporters that deal specifically with women who have problems being intimate with their husbands after a rape because it is so traumatic. This type of event is mental much more than physical, and the effects are lifelong. For you to suggest that she had a quickie with another man less than 24 hours after she was brutally sodomized is to trivialize rape much more than those feminazi's who claim that a woman is raped everytime a man has sex with her.

If she had sex with multiple partners before OR after being with Bryant, there is no way on earth a prosecutor could prove Bryant was the one who caused those "jaw dropping" injuries.
This DA is NEVER, EVER going to be able to prove FORCE, period.

Hey genius, how is it self absorbed to put a "don't bother flaming me based on what's written here" in MY profile page? In fact since when did I proclaim to the rest of this site the contents of what I had written? You, not I, clicked on that. Actually don't bother responding. The response would probably be more idiotic than your silly horse attacks.

I'd say that just about sums it up.
