PARIS, Nov 21, 2003 (Kyodo via COMTEX) -- Members of the al-Qaida international terrorist network warned Friday they will attack Tokyo as soon as Japanese troops are deployed in Iraq, Radio France reported.
In a statement sent to an Arabic magazine, the al-Qaida members said they will infiltrate deep into Tokyo and attack the Japanese capital as soon as Japan's Self-Defense Forces troops set their feet on Iraq, the report said.
The radio report said the members, admitting al-Qaida's involvement in Thursday's attacks on British targets in Istanbul, said in the statement that Japan will be easily destroyed and the Japanese will come to face the reality.
The attacks in Turkey's largest city killed 27 people and injured some 450 others.
The statement also warned that "a major new operation" will be carried out between next week (following the end of Ramadan) and mid-February at the time of the Feast of Sacrifice, Id al-Adha.
Japan is thinking of dispatching a total of several hundred troops to Iraq next year to participate in that country's reconstruction despite a recent decision not to send an advance unit to Iraq by the end of this year in light of the worsening security situation there.

They have GOT to have contacts in the media for all of these threats to be aired. And these media contacts should all be investigated. Starting with whomever reported this.

Japan should send more troops than originally planned and sooner than expected. Freedom loving people in the world cannot let themselves be intimidated by the low rent thugs.

They'll send some of their members from East Asia.
It's going to be interesting to see if the Japanese respond to this kind of intimidation. Somehow I seriously doubt the people over there will cringe in fear. That Samarai blood still flows through those veins.

Philipino, Chinese or Indonesian Muslim do not fit in well in Japan. Easily detectable.

AQ doesn't care about guys like him. They believe they're invincible. They hold him about as responsible for knowing the "truth" as the next infidel. They have a mission and they're sticking to it. So do we. And we'll stick it to them.

You got that right, the Japanese people are anything but cowards.
I have often wondered what would happen if they ever went on the war path again.
Maybe we will find out.....

Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said the attacks were meant to "throw society into confusion," adding that the world must not give in to such threats. His sentiments were echoed by British Prime Minister Tony Blair, the leading ally of President Bush in the Iraq war.

When will al Qaeda learn that every time they attack in another country, the Coalition of the Willing becomes bigger?
America, Bali, the Philipines, Afghanistan, Turkey, etc, now Japan... LOL. Reminds me of a bunch of men standing in line, waiting their turn to pummel the target with a baseball bat. :)
