Thursday Nov. 20, 2003; 12:53 p.m. EST NY Timesman's Book Shows Cheney with Hitler Mustache
The cover of the British edition of a new book by Bush-bashing New York Times columnist Paul Krugman carries a photo of Vice President Dick Cheney defaced with an Adolf Hitler-style mustache.
Krugman's American publisher, W.W. Norton & Co., uses a much more mundane cover with no photographs for his attack screed, "The Great Unraveling: From Boom to Bush in Three Scandalous Years."
But the cover of the British edition is emblazoned with a photo of the vice president sporting an oil mustache in the style favored by the Third Reich dictator. The words "Got Oil?" are dripped across the Cheney's forehead.
Published in Britain by Allen Lane, an imprint of Penguin books, Krugman's book cover also carries a image of President Bush with Frankenstein-like stitches across his mouth and the word "Enron" dripped in oil across his forehead.
Reached by phone in London last night, Rosie Glaisher, a Penguin publicist, told the New York Sun that she was unaware of any controversy regarding the book cover.
Efforts to reach columnist Krugman through his publicist and his office at Princeton University, where he is a professor, were unsuccessful, the Sun said.
But W.W. Norton & Co., indicated to the paper that it was notified of Allen Lane's marketing plan.

I think it's supposed to be a oil mustache, much like the milk mustache in the ads. Nevertheless, it's a stupid cover for a stupid book by a stupid man.

The best part of the cover of that book is the review blurb along the top:
"Everything Krugman has to say is smart, important, and fun to read."
I'll give you one guess which important publication had that to say about New York Times reporter Paul Krugman's book.

Krugman, like Michael Moore, is on the road to bitter self-destruction. Anyone hear from Oliver Stone lately?

I think we need to gin up the term "sociopath" to label Krugman, Moore, Kennedy, etx.

It's worse than that. Michael Moore's foreign publishers play up the AntiAmericanism by putting American Flags on all things Michael Moore.
Here is a (separated at birth) comparison of his American book covers to the foreign editions:
US covers:
FRENCH covers:
I also found this version of the artwork for Bowling For Columbine:
It's "funny" that a man who ridicules Americans for having a lack of geography knowledge is spending his time globetrotting asking "Dude, where's my country?".

That is acutally a mutation of the image of Saddam's statue being pulled down in Iraq. The "sticks" are the internal metal supports for the statue.
On the other hand, you are perfectly correct that anything Moore writes is a pile of vomit. That is why he can only be found in the comedy section of the local bookstore.
Comedy=fiction.

Give me a break - that looks nothing at all like a Hitler mustache. It's much closer to a Groucho if anything...

Last I heard of Oliver Stone was several years ago when he got busted with some magic mushrooms in his car.
Oliver Stone tried to pull a Michael Moore in the 1986 election; he wanted to make a Bush Bashing film to damage former President Bush's chances at winning the election.
CFR doesn't affect such October Suprises as these.

Pretty hilarious that the book comes out right when the economy is back on the rebound.

The comparison of the two covers is still worthy discussion (even if the outrage is misdirected).
Here's the more "sober" US cover:
