Imus In The Morning. Thursday Morning.

Did anybody catch Imus this morning?

I've transcripted this because I thought it was kind of funny. As soon as I heard Imus talking to the correspondent from Turkey...I knew there would be problems. LOL!!!

Imus:
"Alright Charles, Whats going on in the news this morning? Whats this about Turkey and Iraq I hear?"

Charles:
"Well I-Man the Uh...um...there was a bomb explostion in Levent, Istanbul. Apparently near a shopping mall."

Imus:
"What about Iraq?"

Charles:
"Well I-Man the Uh...um...there was a bomb explosion in uh Ram..."

Imus:
"You don't seem to even know what in the hell you are talking about!"

Charles:
"Well I-Man you caught me off guard. I don't have that story right in front of me."

Imus:
"Where's Sid at? He's late! Alright well now lets go to Wal..eed...in Turkey. Maybe he will have a little more information than Charles. What do you know Waleed?"

Waleed gives his report and Imus clearly wasn't too interested. Imus started talking to Waleed after he finished his report. Waleed speaks extremely broken English.



Imus:
"So Waleed..who do you like in the Michigan game this weekend?"

Waleed:
"I...uh...I like team whoever you are for sir."



Imus:
"So your for Michigan then?"

Waleed:
"I do not know what you speak of?"

Imus:
"Well alright then. We will have to go back and hear Waleed Wack em up later in the program."

Charles:
"I can't believe you just said that! It shows just how interested you are in this story!"

(They are all laughing hard at this point.)
Lou:
"Its better than what he called him over the break."

Imus:
"Why don't you just shut up Lou! I'll call Mr. Waleed Wack my Dick anything I want to."


Lou:
"Wack em and bag em."

Charles:
"Waleel Wackema!"

Bernard:
"Waleel is gonna be angry."

Imus:
"I don't really care! His report sucked anyways! I don't want him back on here!"

Charles:
"You didn't like Mr. Wack ma balls report?"

Imus:
"That'll be fine Charles. Tell us whats going on in Sports Sid? Sid is late because he didn't want to pay a toll. He took the other way around. You cheapskate."

The bombing was a serious situation...but Imus took time out to have a little fun with it.

I especially thought the funny part was that Sid took the long way around and was late for work because he didn't want to pay a toll.

I usually flip back and forth between Imus and Fox and Friends.

The best segment of the Imus show I ever heard involved a sports report by a previous sports host (Patrick McEnroe, I think).

At the end of the sports report, McEnroe mentioned that Muhammed Ali's daughter had won a boxing match the night before against an opponent named Stella Reese or something like that.

The segment went something like this:

Imus: You're full of it.

McEnroe: I'm not kidding -- Ali defeated Reese in a three-round match in Las Vegas.

Imus: You're lying to me -- this did not happen.

McEnroe: I'm surprised to hear this from you, I-man. I didn't know you were an expert in women's boxing. I didn't even know that you followed it closely enough to know who the top boxers are.

Imus: I don't follow it at all -- but I know Ali did not fight Reese in Las Vegas last night.

McEnroe: Look, I-man -- it says right here on the wire that Ali defeated Reese in a three-round match in Las Vegas last night. Why can't you accept that?

Imus: You mean to tell me that fat broad from the show Touched by an Angel was in a boxing ring against Muhammed Ali's daughter???

[Uncontrolled laughter in the background]

Bernard McGuirk: That DELLA Reese, you moron!

One of his frequent guests (maybe David Gregory) described seeing Imus in Washington D.C.

"You caught me off guard, Don -- at first glance, I thought it was Katherine Hepburn wearing a cowboy hat!"

I think it was just recently that Imus has banned two of his frequent guests from the program.

He banned John McCain from ever appearing on the program again, and he also banned Dan Rather.

He seemed extremely peeved at Rather.

This may have been one of the first times I listened to his show, too. So I've been hooked ever since.

Actually, I clearly remember the first time I heard his show. It was during the impeachment debate in late 1998, and they were playing clips of various Congressmen on both sides of the aisle. At the end of a clip of Barney Frank launching into a tirade against the GOP, in defense of Bill Clinton, I distinctively heard the low voice of Bernard McGuirk in the background:

"Good heavens -- Where is Andrew Cunanan when you need him?"

I almost drove off the road after hearing that one.

that was pretty funny...Imus can be funny, and sometimes he can be a boob. I did like how he said he could not enjoy "Elf" because he realized it was Ed Asner playing Santa!!!
