Now you see that even you are not above the simple mistakes everyone makes here.

In an ideal world, Puppage would see that we are all fallible and it is better not to throw stones. Puppage feels quite at home using internet slang ("LOL", for example) and incomplete sentences (see post 126). I think Puppage just enjoys belittling others.

And he/she still never answered my question "Do you immediately dismiss Southerners as unintelligent because of our slang?"

Going off subject wasn't my intent and yes I am venting somewhat too but it is because of this thread and the images of our President being humiliated without so much as any common dignity for spectator and (what I think more likly to be the case) propganda purposes.

However it is because of this topic and seeing those pictures of such fanatical hate for our president that really has brought this rant out of me.

It really isn't those idiots over there that really burn me. I believe that WE (myself included) have let so much history slip into the abyss by the defacto compromise of complacency.

I believe it is because of this alone that those useful idiots here and everywhere view us with such contempt. And as to witnessing. That would be a more noble intent, one, that I must confess, was not the case as I am just ranting over my ilk of the overt comtempt for my personal religeous views and what seems to be the lack of backbone on the part of my party to stand up in my view of those ideals and not to mention my defense of the understandable misinterpretation of your assumption that my post had more to do with ilk over Judge Roy Moore.

The relevance of which I am trying with such difficulty to express, albiet my first post on this board with an almost uncontainable flow of years worth of bottled up antipathy for the left, is simply the belief that had we not compromised the charactor of our national principles (clearly most of which were based on Biblical presidence) we would likely not be seeing such resentment like this manifesting itself here and abroad. And I do mean WE not everybody else except myself. Alright I have gotten it of my chest. Thanks for the forum.

By using "words" such as dis, ain't, etc. makes one sound stupid,. THAT'S my point. Whether these "words" are found in a dictionary or not.

My mother was a stickler for proper speech and tirelessly corrected my siblings and me until we pretty much knew the rules by rote.

As she used to tell us: "People won't necessarily notice when you speak correctly, but they'll notice it when you don't."

This is especially valuable advice in situations such as job interviews and speeches/presentations to large crowds.

Truth be told, there are more than enough Christians and soldiers to protect this nation from going too far in one direction.... It's a big nation with plenty of room... And though there are a variety of experiences and views, the one that you would see complete unity on is the freedom to choose and worship as we wish... The fellowship and witnessing get a little complicated with the likes of Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, Fred Price, and so on...

It is a subject that can and should be discussed as it not only deals with person's lives but their souls....

Me, I just try to do no harm and ask for forgiveness when I fail... That is the best we can do as a nation....

And remember, God has the strength to make us do whatever we want but he gave us free will... Some choose to accept him as Lord... Others do not... Gain strength from believers and pray for the non-believers....

As they used to say in my church... "Take your problems to the Lord and leave them there..."

How is British commerce doing?! Would limiting travels to England show them they hate us and we hate them right back?

Thanks for enlightening me as to the meaning of the phrase "props to you". I'd seen it used on several websites, but I hadn't a clue as to what it meant.

True enough and thanks. Indeed I need to do that more often that is for sure. I appreciate the advice very much. It's just unnerving at times and would not be if I left it to the Lord more often.

Credit to Eternal Vigilance for this caption on the USO Canteen (#117):

The Fruit of the Resolute

"Great victories come only to those who never waver
No matter how loudly the enemies of freedom may mock
Who see the path of duty, and follow it to the very end
God bless our President on this day
He will be known forever as 'the Liberator of Iraq'!"

LOL. Almost sounds like we had the same mother. My brothers & I used to HATE those corrections, but looking back on it today (I am 41) I'm SO grateful that she did.

Have a nice weekend!

Welcome.
That was it's usage that I have experienced.
Whether or not that's it's original usage is uncertain, I haven't heard what or where it originally started.
