Al Franken in 'Deep Level Talks' for Radio Show

In-house Democratic Party comic Al Franken says he is in "deep level" negotiations to host a show on a liberal talk radio network set to launch early next year.

The hot-tempered ex-SNL writer tells the Chicago Tribune that he's been meeting with former America Online executive Mark Walsh, who's taken over the project from Sheldon and Anita Drobny.

Hefty contributors to the Democratic Party, the Drobnys announced plans to bankroll a liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly earlier this year.

The Chicago couple have sold the majority of their shares in the corporation they created to launch the project, AnShell Media, to Mr. Walsh.

Walsh formerly worked for the Democratic National Committee and currently serves as the party's chief technology advisor.

"These guys seem to be charging forward and making progress," Franken told the Tribune, saying negotiations to bring him on board had reached the "deep level" stage.

Though Franken is famous for his in-your-face verbal assaults - he used the "F"-word earlier this year to attack the Fox News Channel at a rally attended by an applauding Hillary Clinton - Walsh says that his network's political tilt will be primarily "centrist, with a hint of liberalism."

"We're excited about the opportunity," said the liberal media mogul, who finalized his deal with the Drobnys last week.

This could be a really good thing. Lots more to discuss for FReeepers, Rush, Hannity, ....

Besides, the libs will have to discuss their ideas in an "open" forum and provide substance to their ideas. Their show will be closed, but public forums like FR, Rush's show, Fox, etc. are open. You know we will not allow them to say stupid things without a response.

And they are taking a big risk here. If they fail, then people will question the liberal agenda more, i.e., "if liberalism is such a great ideal, why did it fail as a talk show."

The only way alfranken can have a talk show is with the militant use of call screeners. There will be no marketplace of ideas.

At least the Drobnys had the sense to bail out when they realized their dopey project is HOPELESS. Maybe the point at which they decided to bail out was when they started actually LISTENING to their designated choice to counter Rush---Ed Schultz. Schultz turned out to be nothing but an empty blowhard. So who is breaking the news now to Ed Schultz that he is OUT before he was even in?

The ONLY reason why Franken is being considered is that he once titled his book "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot" in order to assure publicity by using Rush's name. That is Franken's sole "qualification" to be a talk show host. Has anybody even heard him host a talk show? Watch for Franken to flop horribly. It's as if someone is chosen to be a research physicist only because he wrote an essay with "Albert Einstein" in the title.

Franken is so terribly unfunny and very slow on his feet that I expect that the call screeners will have a pretty tough job keeping him safe from us big, bad, evil conservatives. I expect that there will be a lot of 'hang ups' on this talk show. Now Rush, on the other hand, most always has lefties hang up on him. It's always because Rush is pelting them with the truth so badly that they have a 'psychotic episode' and lock up.

I'm dead on sure that there are FReepers out there, including myself, that are already making plans to give Franken a call, just for 'grins'. But, sadly it would be a futile effort. The commie left doesn't want the truth, just the power OVER the People.
