Well, I bet all she has in that purse is a couple of tissues. I remember once when she spoke here in the states and someone forgot to get her a stool to stand on behind the podium. She put her purse on the podium and no one could see her face. LOL

"For the one millioneth time, lose the handbag, queenie. "
Ain't that the truth. Especially in this instance, she is in her own home after all. LOL

Looks like they have really taken to Laura.
To: Howlin
Don't they look great? Aren't you so proud of them?
Try to imagine ANY of the democrats being in this situation. It's impossible.
God bless President Bush and the First Lady, WHO DID NOT WEAR PANTS!!!
To: Darlin'
Please tell us why the royal women are wearing that girl scout looking banner across their beautiful dresses.
To: Miss Marple
And who did NOT try to upstage the Queen!!!

Those banners are sashes where I believe royal order badges are attached like the Royal order of the Garter which is one of the more famous. I think that is what the Queen would be wearing. I assume they are worn on certain formal occasions where they are handy for attaching such badges.

In Britain, when you wear honors (like Order of the British Empire) you display them, if you are a woman or a man in non-military dress, with a sash and a pin as Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret do. It is customary and totally appropriate.

Eddie Izzard said she has a brick in there.I bet that over the years that her children have made her sh*t many a brick.

How interesting. But, it does take away the effect of wearing a beautiful formal gown.
To: TomGuy
Thanks for posting these pictures; my parents had stopped by and I missed watching some of the festivities.
President Bush and lovely Laura are class personified.
Class tells.

I'm not watching it anymore (can't find it). I'm commenting on the pictures. Look at the way the queen is looking at her in one of the pictures posted above.
