I have become way too choosy when it comes to blind dates.

MAY I make a suggestion - get into a church-sponsored singles group ...

Jim, why what do you have against the few normal single men of NYC that you would place this psycho anywhere near them? One of these days she is going to manage to hold down her ego for the 15 seconds it takes to say "I do" and then spend eternity making some poor guy's life miserable.

On second thought, this writer-guy was a liberal weiner, and even he had the good sense to run when he saw her coming, so there may be hope yet.

Yeah, right, James, suuuuuure.

Nothing like having a woman who knows how to stomp on a guy's spirit as well as his ego and self-esteem in order to be the one in control.

Like trying to cultivate a close relationship with a porcupine.

No thanks. Been there, done that and got that "T"-shirt.

No doubt, there are some good opportunities there, but a lot of pitfalls also.

Back in the days when I attended church, I discovered that many of the guys there were quite predatory and VERY different on Sunday morning than the rest of the week. And many of the girls were gullible enough to fall for it.

Some of my worst dates have been with women who were very active in church.

Bottom line: there's good and bad people everywhere, but I wouldn't put 'church' even close to the top of the list of meeting people

I had a similar experience when I was single. I was set up by some friends with a guy they SWORE I would like. Although he was geographically undesirable (I lived in San Diego and he in Manhattan Beach) I figured, what the hell. My friends suggested we double date and go to a club oustide of Manhattan Beach to see Robben Ford. Since I was a Robben Ford fan I said OK. So I drove to Manhattan Beach and rented a room for the night. We went to the club and we all had a good time (the guy was nice, although he was really, really short. At first that turned me off, but after spending some time with him, he was pretty nice). When it was time to leave, he picked up the check and TOLD ME WHAT I OWED FOR MY SHARE OF THE FOOD. I drove to see him, I rented the room and he didn't have the class to pick up the tab? Uh uh. Character Red Flag. He called me after that but I never went out with him again.

I agree, the woman is looking for what she knows not.

I e-mailed him my three-question test.

1). I told him he had to be able to party with me at a muddy music festival for three days.

ANSWER: What the bloody hell is a "muddy music festival" I've been to some blue grass fetivals at the local junior fair ground after it rains, is that a muddy music festival?

2). I told him he had to be able to rescue me if I broke down in the Kalahari Desert.

ANSWER: Probably but we will never know because I have absoloutly no intention of traveling to the Kalahari Desert.

3). Lastly, I asked if he would be able to hold court with a bunch of politicians at a New York Arts Club dinner.

ANSWER: I'm sure the New York Arts Club politicians would love to hear me explain my southern conservative republican, pro-gun, pro-military beliefs in great detail. On second thought I'd rather be castrated with a dull butter knife, lets skip the artsy club and go grab a beer and shoot some pool.

??? I wonder if I would pass her test ???
