Slavery Lives On In Sudan (The fruits of The Religion of Peace™ and its Prophet (PBUH))

"Women and children abducted in slave raids are roped by the neck or strapped to animals and then marched north. Along the way, many women and girls are repeatedly gang-raped. Children who will not be silent are shot on the spot. In the north, slaves are either kept by individual militia soldiers or sold in markets. Boys work as livestock herders, forced to sleep with the animals they care for.
"Some who try to escape have their Achilles tendons cut to hamper their ability to run. Masters typically use women and girls as domestics and concubines, cleaning by day and serving the master sexually by night. Survivors report being called "Abeed" (black slave), enduring daily beatings, and receiving awful food. Masters also strip slaves of their religious and cultural identities, giving them Arabic names and forcing them to pray as Muslims."
Thus says one leading slavery abolitionist group. A former slave writes of "the rape of girls and boys alike, the forced circumcision of boys and girls, often with them fully conscious and screaming and having to be held down by many people. Sodomy and sadistic torture are common. Living hell."
Another says. "Families were broken up, with children sometimes murdered in front of their mothers as a warning and because they were too much trouble. We cried out to the West, to the countries who said they believed in human rights, but they were indifferent to our agony."
Thank goodness, of course, that this is the stuff of a dark history that can now be comfortably condemned in the privilege of a civilized and complacent modernity. Oh, what awful times they were.
Problem is, it's not some description of the ancient world or an example of the worst excesses of American slavery in the early 19th century. No, it's happening right now, and some of those who have escaped this evil have found sanctuary in Canada. They are willing to tell their stories, if anyone will listen.
This is the reality of Sudan, a country with which Ottawa has good relations and a nation that is accepted in every major international organization, where it regularly votes to condemn liberal democracies. Because it possesses oil, many foreign governments who scream freedom seem to become deaf and dumb about the obscenity of slavery.

This horror has taken place for two major reasons. The people of southern Sudan are black, and they are not Muslim. At a time when we hear so much about Islam's treatment by the world, we ought to consider that one of the greatest crimes of this generation has been committed by a Muslim fundamentalist government and army against a black and Christian people who want only their dignity.

Isn't Jesse Jackson's silence both deafening...and illuminating? He's a fund-raiser and doesn't see that this cause is profitable enough to distract him from his race-baiting in the nation where blacks tend to be the wealthiest of any in the world. As Muhammad Ali said when asked what he thought of Africa: "I'm glad my ancestor got on that boat!". I certainly don't seek to minimize the cruelty or unfairness of North American slavery, but I DO seek to expose Jesse Jackson's hypocrisy.

"At a time when we hear so much about Islam's treatment by the world, . . . " Yes, we've been too forgiving and accepting in our treatment of Islam. I apologize for that, Islam. I'll do my best henceforth to treat you in the manner you rightfully deserve.

Well well, if it isn't the pot calling the kettle African American. Someone needs to sit down, crank the Arrested Development, and give Numbers 31, Lev 25 and Exod 21 a good hard read.

There has been a civil war going on in Sudan for years, and after years of pain

How can this Mr. Coren call this a civil war? He simply is too stupid to understand that
The Prophet is now at work in his humble servants attempting to bring
a purifying peace to Sudan, despite the evil thwarting of the so-called Christians
and animist terrorists destroying southern Sudan and harming all the peace-loving
Muslims of Sudan.
But do not worry, following the dictates to kill all Jews and Christians, WHEREVER
we might find them, we shall eventually bring peace to Sudan and bring it into a
New Muslim Golden Age.
Just like those beautiful beacons of freedom, peace and truth known as Saudi Arabia
and Egypt.
As for Mr. Coren, he might as well take his lies and deceit south of border like
David Frum (Dubya's former speech writer who devised that wicked saying "The Axis of Evil").
Mr. Coren should live in misery in the embrace of The Great Satan.
O, Canada!
(end Mendacious Muslim mode...)

Thanks very much for posting this article.
I'm a flyover-country kinda' guy who has relatives in Alberta that range for
right-of-center to modestly Canadian-Socialist.
Just speaking reflexively (from my gut, without really deliberating), the subtext to
your post should be "Michael Coren will either be prosecuted in Canada, or seeking
political asylum in the USA for having spoken the truth in the Canadian press (= speaking the
truth to power, as liberal say)".
Thanks again for posting the article...

"14th-16th century BC Bronze Age versus 21st century Atomic Age." My point wasn't one about societal development, but religion. I attempted to remind the poster that the slavery is no more related Islam than it is to any other religion. Otherwise, we could also contemptuously insinuate that the American slavery was a "fruit of Christendom and their Messiah, Jesus (Love thy Neighbour (c))", in a similarly fallacious manner.
However, the fact that you raise the issue of societal context serves my point nicely. Perhaps there is more to the story of Sudan than their religion? (Ah, but I keep forgetting, once we start thinking about it like that, the story of Sudan will no longer be a convenient hook upon which to hang our prejudices. Better stay quiet about that societal development stuff, then.)

What does this say about the intelligence of American blacks who embrace Islam to get at Whitey?

What does this say about the intelligence of American blacks who embrace Islam to get at Whitey?
Well, all I can say (as an average white guy) is what I said to my dear mother when
she asked me maybe 15 YEARS AGO "Why are so many negroes turning to Islam?".
Although I'm not a social scientist, I said:
"Probably because they got screwed by Christian whites for hundreds of years, thought
things would improve more than they did after The Civli War, then had the Supreme Court
segregate then in the late 1800s."
Now, my college-boy parrot-answer was not complete, but I do think it does tape
into a fair amount of the why and wherefore.
BUT, for me, lots of sane people-of-color, and probably yourself,
we are left scratching our heads as to why anyone would take Islam over Christianity
or Judaism...or even atheism, for pete's sake.
All I can think (along with some of what General Patton said) is that Islam appeals
to a lot of deep-seated male desires: control your adversaries -- or have heavenly
justification to kill them if they pray to God, not Allah...and feel good about it.
Heck, even win the lottery in Paradise if you die in the effort.
Have four wives and run their show.
Use Shari'a law to bone over any woman or non-Muslim that gets in your way.
If a person feels justified in being mean and vengeful, I suspect that Islam is
"just what the doctor ordered".
Not to say that Christianity and Judaims can't be warpred and appropriated by
mean-spririted people...but in that case, it's a perversion of a religion.
In Islam, the cruelty and domination scheme is part and parcel of the religion.

So they don't bother to check the historical truth about Islam as the greatest historical and present enslaver of African blacks. Kind of proves the point.
